ASET and IS on that stone look really nice. As far as dimensional differences, there is more variation in fancy shapes than rounds. I wouldn''t worry about .2mm (do you realize how small that is?) if the smaller diamond is well cut. Getting a better cut will make the diamond appear larger through better light return.

Lorelei and jet said it all! Looks like a fabulous diamond. Note that many of the princess cut diamonds that qualify for the AGS ideal cut grade are on the deeper side (74-78% or so). Although depth doesn''t always correlate with spread in princesses as L mentioned, I have noticed that the AGS ideals with these depths tend to have a teeny bit smaller spread...but they will face up nice and big due to the corner-to-corner light return. And I''d take ideal cut sparkle over 0.2mm of size any day! You could set it "on point" or "kite-set" (with the corners at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o''clock) if you want it to appear even larger.

Re: "signature ideal" - unfortunately, a label of "ideal" cut by a vendor does not always mean anything. The only ideal cut terminology you can trust for a princess is the AGS ideal cut grade. No other lab grades princesses on cut quality.

Anyway, great choice of stone - post lots of pics when you''re done!

Thanks for the input. I hope to make a purchase within the next few days and this could be the one. With all the info on this site, I know I am going to end up with a quality diamond and even save some money.

Keep us posted!

I bought the stone but hope I didn''t make a mistake. This is an SI1 princess cut with clouds and I''ve been reading that clouds can affect the brilliance of the diamond. Given that the Ideal scope and Aset images look so good, should this diamond be affected by the clouds?

No worries with a diamond sold by a trusted vendor that clouds will be an issue!

I''m not sure I have the option but would I be better off going with this diamond? http://www.whiteflash.com/aca_princess/Whiteflash-ACA-Princess-cut-diamond-2119052.htm Its a 0.758 H color AGS 0 VS1. VS. my current 0.705 F color AGS 0 SI1 (eye clean)? I would be getting a larger diamond with VS1 clarity for only $30 more but its an H color. Would it be that noticeable with the H color Vs. F.
It might look very slightly larger with direct comparison, not so much when set in a ring. It depends on you, if you aren''t happy with your original purchase you could see about exchanging it for this one. An H colour will still be white, maybe not quite so ICY WHITE as an F colour, but I would seek further advice from WF on how they actually compare.

I would ask WF to compare them too. But I would also be very tempted to get the H VS1. :P

I spoke with Whiteflash and they said they are both beautiful diamonds. They suggested I stay with the smaller F color diamond because it is only .2mm smaller, eye clean and is visually whiter than the H diamond.

Sounds fine!
