So...I'm planning to propose this holiday season, and I have selected an eternity engagement ring with diamonds going around the band. I'm planning to delete 2 or 3 near the base, or have the diamonds only go 3/4 the way around. For sizing.

Diamond option 1 - 0.9ct/round/brilliant/ideal/s1-1/ F color- $5200

Diamond option 2 - 0.9ct/s1-1/round/very good/H color - $4750

I'm working with Minichiello's here in Vancouver. I looked at some other diamonds in this size, but these both stood out. I liked the H because the circumference was big at 6.33, but the H color was holding me back. The F color circumference is 6.28, so nearly the same size, but better color. Looking at both of them side by side, you could notice a little bit of a yellow color, but not much.

I'm just trying to decide if its worth it to pay an extra $450 for the better color, or not? And at $5200 I start thinking, I could probably get a carat with a lower clarity for about the same $$$. I'm leaning towards the F color at $5200, should I just leave it at that?

The more I look into this, I'm getting more confused, help

Well, from the looks of it, you would be paying $450 for better color and cut if your stats are correct. Does the H have fluorescence?

I'll have to double check the specs when I get home later, but I believe they are correct. I'm not sure about the fluorescence, but I'll find out. How is the pricing? Is that about right, considering the specs?

Are they GIA certified? Can you post more details, like depth, table, crown angle and pavilion angle?

I wouldn't consider a very good cut. Post the specs on the F which is "ideal cut". If it is truly ideal cut, then it has an AGS grading report.

After researching diamonds a bit more, I've realized how clueless I am :((

They are closed today, but I emailed them asking if it was GIA or AGS certified and if he could send me the report. One other diamond that was presented to me was EGL certified...this is not as good as a GIA or AGS certification right? I hope the F coloured diamond is GIA or AGS certified
