I''ve been looking at having a bezel slider pendant made for my birthday by an online vendor. Because I won''t get to see the size of it till it''s all done, payed for, shipped and non-returnable, I''ve been wondering/worring about the size.

The largest I can really afford with my budget is around 0.40-0.43 ct mark. I''m not a dainty little lady unfortunatly- I''m 5''10, not "large" but with broad shoulders and ample boobage etc. Is this size stone going to look silly on me? I don''t want to spend all this money and not be 100% happy with it.

Does anyone have pics with a similar sized stone on a non-tiny person?

Thanks for your help!

Good morning,

Size is a personal preference, so I would suggest if you have the time, visiting a local jeweler and try some on. Can you share your budget with us? Also, you only mentioned size.. do you have a specific color in mind?

I've just been flicking through a catalogue that includes a good selection of semi-budget jewellery (lots of J-I2 stones and 9ct gold) and they have only two sizes for solitaire pendants; 0.25ct (4.2mm) and 0.5ct (5.0-5.2mm).
On that basis, I guess that 0.5ct is considered to be fine. The catalogue lists solitaire rings up to 1ct, so it's not as if they can't get hold of 1ct stones.
I think that 0.5ct will be OK.

When you say that the largest you can afford is 0.40 - 0.43ct, what colour/clarity/metal are you aiming for?

Definitely look at some in person, personally I think that size would look great but if you can check some out in person that would be best. Go for the best cut you can and it will be noticeable because of the sparkle whatever size you get.

I''m going to TRY to nip into a jewler tonight and try some on but it''s unlikely I''d be able to untill next week which is when I sould really be ordering it so no one gets to the stones I want before me!

The budget is just over $800US which inculdes the stone, setting, chain and postage/insurance to New Zealand but not import tax/ duty etc.

I have narrowed it down to 4 stones within budget - all are certified, J colour, Ideal H&A cut, between 0.40 -0.43 cts and either SI2 or SI1 (waiting to hear if these are eyeclean). Once I know if any of these are eye clean then I''ll narrow down my options a bit more.

Metal is 14ct White gold.

I hope I find time to try some pendants on so I know what to expect- I''d really hate to get it and be disapointed in the size and end up not wearing it all the time like I want to. Although I''m doing all the work BF is paying for it as my birthday prezzy and it''s alot of money for us. I don''t want to hurt him by not totally loving it and wearing it all the time.

Be sure to try some on before ordering. My pendant is a .41 basket setting and it looks about perfect on me, being 5'' 4" petite build. Since you''re having the pendant bezel set, you may be okay, but until you see one on you in person, it''s best not to base your decision on guesses from us here on PS.

We all have different ideas of what size is ideal.

I think that size would look fine regardless of you frame. But like others have said, try some on to see how you like it.
