I am looking for a diamond and i have stumbled across this one and i know it is EGL which is fine i do not need a GIA but i am wondering if it is going to be worth the value or not, i have read on here that EGL can be 2-3 grades off but i have seen similar stones in stores and they look amazing. Even at 2-3 grades off this diamond still seems like a great one to me but that's why i am posting to get more knowledge!! Please let me know of any recommendations also looking to spend no more than 3500 on loose diamond!!

Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 0.92 ct
Color: G
Clarity: VVS1
Make (Cut): Super Ideal
Report: EGL
Price: $3,060.00
Bank Wire Price: $2,999.00
Depth %: 61.0 %
Table %: 58 %
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Measurements: 6.30 x 6.23 x 3.82 mm
Length To Width: 1.01 to 1
Girdle: Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None

Crown and pavillion angles?

I am not exactly sure. I guess i should ask what is the best value for spending around 4,000-4,500 on a loose diamond? i wanna stay between .85 and .95 and a XXX diamond.

Can anyone give me a few diamonds to choose from?

If you want Value EGL is a poor place to start. A G could easily be (and has been) an I with them.

You DO need GIA or AGS. This its a matter of accuracy. And it is a fact that EGL is a poor value. That is why it is traded at such a discount.

You have a great budget for what you want. Very strong contenders. So why go for a lower quality lab report and introduce uncertainty about value to your purchase?

Here are some options I'd explore:
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3045756.htm looks perfectly eyeclean. Gives you a great size with no compromise on color.

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11741/ Most conservative and hits 80 points for you.

Both Whiteflash and GOG have a fabulous array of settings for you to chose from as well from a variety of designers-- as well as great in house designs.

I just saw that originally you wanted to spend 3,500. Still completely do-able.

And here is one link about EGL: It's not just the color grades. Their stats (angles, etc.) have been off too in the past. We've had people submit diamonds as a test to both labs before and it's been astonishing. You'd be wise to check out some of the choices experts have found for you. Hunting blind can be dangerous, when you aren't informed about exactly what you're looking for.

I saw a stone from GOG listed above (they are in NY, so no sales tax), which might be a winner. Looks like a great pick.

Here's another great option, within your budget (vendor is not located in TX):

.8ct, F, VS1

can you tell the difference between these two diamonds size wise to the unaided eye

I am trying to figure out between these 2 diamonds because if i can save and both are about the same to the untrained eye then i'd rather go with the 1st one. I do know the 2nd one would probably be more eye clean but other than that can you guys help me decide please!

Best person to help you with that is Whiteflash. They do it all the time. Call them, ask to them to pull both and talk to you about which is better in terms of inclusions. They will tell you honestly.

And those are both gorgeous choices! Good job!

Cool!!! They told me the SI1 was eye clean from 10 inches but you may be able to see some depending on the light and angle and who is looking at it so i think that is still a good SI1?

That's up to you.

My eyesight is getting progressively worse. Would be fine for me. But not for some people.

It is a big savings though. 500 bucks is nothing to sneeze at.

yea most people are not going to say hey can i see if your diamond has inclusions !! They will see the fire and sparkle and go nice diamond!

That's how I see it too. :wavey:

It's a 60/60. https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/60-60-proportioned-diamond One with good HCA scores and idealscope images are excellent values.

Blue nile doesn't provide idealscope images though.

But they can at least pull the diamond and tell you if it is eyeclean.

If it were me, I'd ask JA if they can get it for you and price match it IF it is eyeclean (check that with BN first). And JA has idealscopes. :naughty: Would be worth the savings.

Yea JA didn't really have anything. I think whiteflash is the way to safest way to go, just thought i would ask : ) gonna be buying that 0.82 H SI from them next week

I meant that JA can get the BN stone you linked to in for you. The exact stone. Price match it. And give you an idealscope image. But the WF stone is lovely. I prefer WF's settings too.
