So, first of all, thank you. I have been using this forum as a resource to learn some stuff I didn't know for the past year. I'm getting ready to purchase a diamond and I've got it narrowed down. I don't think I could really go wrong here but I figured I'd ask for opinions if you wanted to provide them. Based on the information I have collected and seeing a few diamonds in person I have narrowed my criteria down to H color, 1.6-1.75 size, SI1-VS2 with ideal cut, sym and polish in a round solitaire stone. Also, it's going into a Vatche Swan which I also have to give thanks for to the forum here. I actually selected on the Sisley but upon further consultation with the recipient it was decided that I did a good job but the Swan would be a better choice. Anyways, I'm looking at the following and would appreciate any comments you might have.

Whiteflash
1.602, H, SI1, Expert Selection for $15.2k (I have it on reserve)

Blue Nile
1.75, H, SI1 with faint florescence for $15k

1.6, H, SI1 signature cut for $16k

For one thing, I have never seen a diamond with fluorescence that I am aware of. So, I wouldn't know if faint is something that can be seen with the eye or not. Second, the 1.6 at BN is a signature cut but I'm not sure how much difference there would be to the eye between that and the WF ES diamond. I think a brilliant fire that reflects light is the most important thing at this stage but I don't know if it's a flip of a coin between these three or if there is truly a noticeable difference between them. If it were a flip of the coin I'd go large but I do see the GIA report with a couple of inclusions through the face and the fluorescence.

Again, thanks to everyone for contributing to this forum as it is very helpful and thanks to anyone who may send feedback.

if you are going with the Swan setting I would definitely get the WF stone since WF can get you that setting. that way you would avoid any shipping/mounting fees. Plus, it has all of the images and looks like a beautiful diamond!

Hi,

The faint fluorescence should not be detectable.

When choosing vendors keep in mind upgrade and trade-in policies as many of us have found them quite useful :wink2:

Like the crown angle on the WF stone, it will likely lend to a bit more fire. The 1.75 will likely be very bright, nice size. Inclusions are a bit of concern so I would want to see the stone loose and have it appraised for durability issues before deciding. Love the 75% LGF, gives a bolder flash IMO. Don't prefer the 1.6 signature cut but for my own reasons (80% LGF more pinfire flash--but many people prefer that).

I would go with the WF stone

I vote for WF! Super stone and setting selection! :appl:

I would also go with the WF stone. It is beautiful, and if you ever needed it, they have a good trade-in policy.
