Help with J Princess Cut Diamond

Nothing like being a lurker forever and then needing some quick assistance!!!

So, I was about to order from Blue Nile - about to push the button but then couldn't do it. I went to visit the WF site and well....found a 1.5 carat J VS2 Princess....so I need help, what do you think:

I have waited until the last minute and I need to place my order by 1pm central time today to have it by next Thursday....it was stupid of me, but I have been looking for so long and couldn't decide what to get, and before I know it, it's time for vacation, and my proposal moment....

I would talk to the folk at WF and ask them which diamond might be the most suitable for your needs, or they may be able to suggest some more for you to consider. Are you sure your GF would prefer a Princess to a round?

The problem is I waited to long - because of the 2 week beginning of July vacation in the NY jewelry industry, I won''t be able to have it set in time....again, that is just me waiting until the last minute - but yes, that''s a nice one.

Ok - I just read a whole thread on J''s with lots of pictures, I think that I am going to stretch it and go with the J - it was handpicked by WF though...I mean, it''s in-house and they are respectable, so I would think that it is a good looking stone?

I think that the 1.5 carat is the poorer cut of the two WF diamonds, but it is .40 bigger than the other for only $1100. Tough choice, cut quality over size for me, so I would get the 1.1 ct.

I went with the size.....I know that Cut is super important....but something in my gut just told me to with the 1.5 ct and so I did....I thought about and figured that WF probably wouldn''t be selling a diamond that they didn''t want to get back some day - or not be able to sell. They have such great feedback on this site - so I just went for the 1.5 carat.

Before I started looking and reading this forum - I had no idea about diamonds, I have never purchased any - or owned any. I inherited a few through the years....and my girlfriend, she doesn''t have any diamonds and has no clue about this stuff either. Basically, she doesn''t have any diamond to compare this engagement ring to...

With all that taken into consideration - the average person probably won''t even notice that this is a J with a good cut. I think that the 1.5 ct. will be what is noticed, or at least that is what I am hoping. I figured - somewhere down the road I could upgrade this to 2 carat diamond that has the great cut and specs that I would have of course wanted to buy now. The problem is, that as a young professional with law school loans - the money only goes so far but because you are a lawyer, people expect a bigger or decent sized rock.....

I will post some pictures once I get them - I am getting it next Thursday and that was the most important part of this - being able to get it in a week, and WF pulled through, Plus, the woman I talked to was super nice and helpful!!

They''re both ES princesses, with the same WF rating. therefore, it''s a wash to me! I think you did the right thing going for the larger one.
