First, a little background. I''m getting married this Sunday at my parents'' home, with around 15 people in attendance--mostly family and a couple of close friends. The wedding is at 4pm, with a reception at a local waterfront restaurant (which will be closed except for our party). Nobody is wearing tuxes or anything too formal, but most of the men will be in suit and tie (our dads, for example). There are no groomsmen. My fiance is wearing a medium-dark gray suit with a subtle pinstripe. My dress is ivory, and we really liked the ivory shirt the sales guy picked out to show us to go with his suit, so we settled on that. We had a harder time finding a tie. This is the tie
here; I''ll post a pic of it too. It''s the gold silk one with the blue diamond-ish pattern. We both liked this tie better than the other options they had, yet now that we have it home I''m wondering if the tie looks groom-ish enough? It''s a beautiful tie with the suit and shirt for other occasions, but is the diamond pattern appropriate for a groom? What do you guys think? He spend 60 dollars on this tie and is annoyed with me for second guessing our choice. But, I figured I could go out and buy a couple of other options to let him choose from, so that he''s not put out by my second-guessing things. He doesn''t usually wear suits or ties, though he will be more now that he''s taken another job, so we''re not that adept at picking them out.

The tie doesn''t look as dark in person as it does online. Also, this is my dress. I''m wearing a simple ivory flower in my hair (no veil, etc). Again, it''s not a really formal wedding, but definitely a dressy one.

Any suggestions regarding color or pattern would be great. Also, is a silk tie the appropriate choice? It seems like a "dressy" tie, but again, I''m not sure what''s usually worn by grooms. Thanks!

I''m eloping and my FI is going to wear a suit (similar to your FI''s actually) and a silk tie. I think it''s appropriate to wear a silk tie to a more casual wedding.

Personally, I''m not crazy about the pattern in that tie. I would like something a touch more formal. We''ll probably go with a striped tie. But my FI is a bit flashy (he''d wear a pink one if I asked!).

But, probably any tie will work, as long your FI feels comfortable and you like it.

Your dress is gorgeous by the way!

I was thinking a striped tie, too. But what colors? Would the gold and blue colors in a striped tie look okay?

Yeah I like blue and gold. Do you have any colors on you that you''d like him to match?

I''m wearing a white dress with a tiny bit of silver in the stitching/beading. I am also wearing light pink shoes, pink pearls and will be carrying a pink bouquet. So, my FI''s tie will probably have some silver, gray and black, because I think these colors compliment each other well. Oh, and I''ll also be wearing a light gray wrap over my dress afterwards. That''s why I mentioned that he would have worn a pink tie, until I decided I didn''t want to get out of control with the matching!
