Hello everyone,

As a first time poster I would like to thank everyone in advance for your help and consideration in this difficult decision I've found myself in. I've been ring shopping at a local jeweler for the past couple of months and I've narrowed it down to the following two engagement rings.
Option A:

Option B:

Ok a little bit about my girlfriend. She is the sweetest girl in the world, very simple, kind to all, a nurse by profession, funny, and generally an awesome person that I love to be around. When I originally went in to look for a ring, I thought to look for "simple, yet elegant." I think these both fit the bill, and right now I'm to the point where I'm asking the internet for help :/

A few more notes: I've chosen the loose diamond and settings separately, the diamond pictured in Option A is my diamond (1.09C,VS2, H, 81 facets) and that diamond will be placed in either chosen setting (the diamond in option B is an L I believe?). Please note that in any of the pictures I've posted, the diamond is not actually set, but laying on top of the setting.
More pictures to aid in your decision: (A is left, B is right)

I've asked numerous friends, and most end up choosing option B. I think it may be because the other didn't photograph as well though... Again, thank you to everyone that participates, it will be much appreciated!

A few questions:

Are you set on purchasing from this jeweler or would you consider purchasing online?
Has your girlfriend hinted at whether she prefers a more simple setting or a more sparkly one?
Is there anything about her lifestyle in particular that you'd need to take into consideration (e.g. active, wears gloves for work, etc.)?

do these stones come with a lab report? you need to post more information.

DF, I believe he's purchased the stone already and is debating between the two settings:

Which lab graded the stone you plan to buy?

Are you open to looking at similar settings from different vendors? I really dislike the prongs on both of these settings. I think you could find settings that are the same style, but much more elegant than both of the options you've provided.

Oh,ok..

I like A but also depends on the price.

I like A but B will probably be easier for a nurse to get gloves over.

Me too. Option A has that special something, and it stands out to me. The extra sparkle is a nice bonus!

A gets my vote! I like the extra bling. I like the height of the setting as well.

That first setting with your diamond really sings. Just beautiful.

Wow thanks everyone for all your input!

I was originally going to purchase online, but couldn't fathom spending that much on something sight unseen.
I haven't really gotten any solid hints, but I'm kind of thinking she may like a tad more bling than just a solitaire.
As I mentioned before, she is a nurse, and while B may look like the more suitable ring for wearing gloves, A seemed as though it may be easier to get a glove over.

I'm purchasing from a very reputable dealer here in Wisconsin (no mall locations), and yes they come with a lab report.

On another note, option A is obviously more expensive, just about three times so, but I'm ready to spend that extra money on something that she'll hopefully love forever. Thanks again everyone for your input, its really making me feel better about my decision!

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Option A would definitely be my pick. And if she's anything like me, she'll find a way to get those gloves over the ring :D

Ok here is my 2 cents. I am in nursing school and as a future nurse, if she works in a hospital she cannot wear the engagement ring to work. Most hospital policies only allow a plain solid band, so that no microorganisms can get in tiny spaces that are hard to clean in the ring. For that reason I would choose option A. When I am away from work and can wear my ring, I want it to sparkle!! Although she may be more simple of a person than I am. I would just keep that aspect into consideration. You know her best, but you can never go wrong with more bling!!!

I vote for A because I like the bling and icy whiteness.

I vote for A as well, but I think that you should take into consideration what type of wedding band she may be wearing, and if it will sit flush against the ering. That's important for some people, others not so much. :))

I voted for A because it looks beautiful to me. She may not be able to wear it to work all that much, but she can enjoy it at other times. Since she'll be in gloves most of the time at work anyway, it wouldn't be visible. And not all of our life passes at work ;))

Congrats, and please come back with hand shots!

I vote A, it's gorgeous!

I'm a nurse, and my set is a bit higher with a diamond band. You get used to it and gloves have never been an issue.

Thanks everyone for all your assurance... you guys are awesome! I've chosen to go with option A, and I'll post some pics of ring-on-finger in a few short months!

which lab?? GIA?

I voted for option A. That being said, I'm a girl who appreciates a little bling...far from simple! If you think your girlfriend would prefer a simple and classic setting, go with your gut. Only you know what she likes! Can't go wrong with either of these, from my perspective.

ETA: Just saw that you already chose! Oops! Good choice!!

Another vote for Option A!

Option A is gorgeous!!!!

i like how A sit in perfectly also and of course of the extra blink :naughty:

If the local jeweler is a good one, there's no reason to consider anyone else. Our job isn't to line internet vendors pockets. It's consumer advocacy. They are different things.

In answer to the question: I prefer the sparkly one by a mile.

Definitely A. Looking forward to the pictures!
