Hey Guys

Wow this website has a ton of information and I have learned a lot just by reading over the last couple of weeks. I have plans to have the ER in the next month and propose before her bday. I would really be greatful for some help on picking a great diamond.

Budget for the diamond is around 4K. Princess Cut which will be set in a platinum solitare ring.

I have been looking a JA and have the following I think to choose from, unless someone has a better recommendation:

Any comments or help would be so greatly appreciated.

Is JA prices in AUD for Aussie customers or always in USD???

Thanks

That stone you have selected as your top stone is not a very attractive stone. Its faceting pattern is not very clear and it looks like it has a lot of leakage. Out of the 3 you have posted the first one looks like it has the most potential. Request an aset image and post if you are interested. When I get on my computer (I'm on my kindle) I'll look to see if there are some other options.

I agree with this. The first stone looks like it has the most potential, but is pretty deep.

Is staying at a carat important to you, or are you okay with going under a little?

Dont really know much about the facets, guess I will have to do more research. Any links appreciated.

The 1 carat thing was just what I was aiming for. Can go up or down if required within budget. Still trying to find out if JA prices are all USD or I can view in AUD.

And the first one is now not avaliable. Any other recommendations welcome.

Thanks

Thanks.

How much of the Ideal ratings would the untrained eye notice over a very good rating?

I know that diamond is great, but I if get a 1carat, with very good ratings for a little more how much of a real life difference would I notice?

It would depend on the cut. The 'Very Good' rating from James Allen doesn't mean much, if anything, about the cut, because GIA doesn't provide cut grade for princesses.

Would this be a better one from JA then? I really like the

I do prefer the rings at whiteflash, but like the 10x on JA. Seeing the actual diamond can be reassuring when your an ocean away

It looks like it'd be a better cut than the one you were leaning toward before, but it may have leakage in the center, especially toward the left and right sides...do you see that? A little at the top and bottom, forming sort of an "x"? Big table, too. You can request an ASET from JA if you like it though, and it should give a bit more info.

Thanks I kinda think I see the "x" but not being a expert an looking at diamonds. I understand this would potentially lose some of the sparkle from the Diamond and this is an additional thing to think about.

With the table I was aiming for 75% or less from reading various things (although I am not 100% sure why)
Depth 65 - 75%.

How is whiteflash for service with not been able to virtually view the diamond first?

Thanks for you help it has been very informative.

Happy to help in any way I can!

The photo of the diamond on the Whiteflash listing is a photo of the actual diamond. Is it not showing up for you?

Thanks, may not have been able to see everything as I am on a work PC.

I finish my shift tonight so will look again in more detail at home. Would there be a slightly lower grade bigger diamond you would recommend from whiteflash or JA?

I know .15 difference once set in a ring I would hardly know the the difference, but it partly a mentallity thing with the 1carat.

Thanks

This one from JA doesnt seem to have the "x" on the edges as you mentioned. I have requested the cert, and hopefully it is a better cut.
