Hi Pricescopers! I''m back again, still on my quest to find the perfect engagement ring. I went to a jewlery show this weekend and found an EGL 2.30 round brilliant D VS2 stone. I examined it under a 10x loupe and next to GIA D stones and it seemed that the color and clarity were in line with GIA standards (just my non-professional opinion - but I have seen many EGL stones that vary widely from what GIA would have graded them)

I didn''t write down the dimensions, but the width dimensions were matching.

I looked at this stone under the idealscope and it had awesome hearts and arrows, pretty much just like the training CZ that came with my idealscope.

The guy said that he was having a reallly slow time at the show and gave me a price of 29,500. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance - you guys are the absolute best!

what is the depth?

You do need to know the measurements. But I'd consider it an F just for price comparison purposes.

Do they offer a return policy so you can have it independently appraised?

thanks guys - i am requesting the cert email right now

I LOVE your avetar, is that your pet?

It wouldn't be my first choice because it falls outside of AGS ideal and is a TIC which means it will have more white light and less fire than some stones, and I prefer more fire. But that's a tiny consideration and not necessarily a big deal and also depends on your preferences. I also would get it independently appraised prior to sale to make SURE it's a D VS2 you are getting.

So it's not a super ideal stone, but I doubt it would be a dog either. Can you look at it in person? And have you compared the price of this stone to other comparable stones? Have you compared the performance to a stone like a hearts on fire stone (which is a super ideal)? If the price is right and the stone checks out as a D VS2, then it wouldn't be a bad buy.
