First, my thanks to this forum and the contributors here. The information has been so valuable in my search for an e-ring. I can''t thank you all enough for your contributions. I was totally petrified about the thought of buying jewelry that I completely avoided even thinking about it till I got on pricescope!

I have finally narrowed my search down to two rings that fit my budget. I am also on a time constraint having wasted the bulk of my time pondering about what jewelry to get as opposed to actually looking around :-) For that reason, I have decided to pick my setting and diamond from the same vendor.

Of all the ones I saw, I liked the following setting from Whiteflash. Not completely sold on it but comes pretty close to what I think my Fiancee would like (fingers crossed) :)

Now, if I can find something like that in a split shank that would be cool.

For the diamonds, I am down to the following:

I am also leaning towards the following for the wedding band:

I am interested in your expert opinion on the diamonds. The first one is slightly over my budget. I like the second one (F color) but not so sure about SI1. I have read about eye-clean but it appears too subjective and I am so a bit concerned here. It would be ideal if I can find a colorless, VS2 or better that fit my budget of ~$8K for stone and setting.

For the band, do you think it will survive as a daily wearer? I have read that micro paves can be too delicate to be a daily wearer and so I am a bit unsure about that as well.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks!

Both ACA looks good to me.

About the setting, if you are not rush in time, maybe go custom and get a split shank with halo make just for you? :P But with split shank I don't think you can use that wedding band, will not flush with the E-ring then.

I like your setting and your wedding band. Here are a couple of thoughts that passed through my head;

1. Splurge on platinum if possible. Micro-pave prongs tend to hold out so much better over the years
in platinum.

2. On the wedding band..... if you think sizing it would be a concern over the years, can you get
a 3/4 of the way around band? That way you can still have an expert jeweler size it.

On your lovely diamonds..... gosh, both are breathtaking. What''s not to like?

@Stone-cold11: I may go down the custom path but I have only 3 weeks to get this done. Not sure if that is sufficient time.

@Sugardiamonds: Thanks for the suggestion on the platinum. Will see if I can squeeze that into my budget.

Thanks very much for your feedback!

Probably not, but if you have only 3 wks, better contact WF now even if it is for this setting. Some of their settings are not in stock and are made on demand.

I like the enagagement ring and wedding band settings. I agree though about the sizing on the band. You may want to wait on the band until your fiance knows what size she will need or go with the 3/4 eternity ring instead of the full.

Good luck with your engagement!

Thanks SC. I will contact WF ASAP to see what they are able to do.

What is the general consensus between VS2 and SI1. There isn''t significant difference between the two on size. So, looks like I am trading between color (F vs G) and clarity (VS2 vs SI1) and I am leaning more towards F,SI1. Just haven''t got over the mental hump on if the SI1 will really be eye clean.

Ask WF to check carefully that the SI1 meets your expectations and is eyeclean, make your standards known, if you don''t want to see any visible inclusions from any angle or distance make sure they know that.

Yup, sometimes our eye clean is different from the vendor''s eye clean. Almost all vendors consider it eye clean if you can''t spot anything from the table view from 12" away. Is yours a 360 degree view? 6 inches away? Tell WF your expectations and definition of eye clean to know if this SI1 passes your eye clean / mind clean test.

Thank you Lorelei and Chrono. I will talk to WF on Monday to see if it meets my eye-clean definition.

Happy 4th everyone!

@CravingDiamonds: Thanks. I am excited about the engagement. Just wish I had more time to feel fully prepared. Guess there is no such thing :-)
