Hi! I was thinking of asking DH for an upgrade on my studs. I have 1/2 ctw now. (I hope I am saying that right, each stone is .25 carats.) I am looking to upgrade to 1 ctw OR between 4.5-5 mm stones. Basic white gold 6 prong settings. I think I would just ask Yeuketeil to find me stones that rival WF ACA stones. Does anyone have any idea ballpark what I am looking at for cost? If it's too much, I will wait. Thank you!

Just look at pricing on Blue Nile or the PS Diamond Search and see what GIA ex cut stones cost with the specs you want. IDJ usually prices as good or lower. You won't find ACA level stones in the virtual inventory, but you certainly can find excellent cut! I'd give them the parameters below.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

Thanks DS. Do you think it's worth it to just pay the extra for the Whiteflash ACA'S?

I remember pricing out .42 ACAs. I think I remember them being 4.6mm each and together they were approx 2k not with setting I VS stones. I ended up with BGD signature .46s that hit the 5mm mark. I touch them all the time kind of an annoying habit so I am glad I have bright super ideals since I insist on putting my finger prints all over them. They still sparkle like mad!

I'll check out BGD too! I would LOVE hubby to surprise me, but I might have to just do this myself. He's clueless. LOL!

Yours would be smaller than mine, so maybe 2000-2500 range. my earrings are a I/SI GIA EX3 5.43 and 5.42 mm. I did 14K 4 prong instead of 6. I kinda feel like I could have went with 6, though I'm fine with 4. I also got the laPousette backs. Mine was under my 3500 budget if that helps. Mine are .61 and .62ct
