Hi everyone,

I've been coming back to this forum for about 2 months now just learning about diamonds and what to look for. I'm finally in the process of choosing a diamond and it is much harder than I thought. There is just so much to choose from. I've been looking at jamesallen, bluenile, and whiteflash. Without much luck on my own, i emailed the staff at whiteflash and james allen and they pointed me to some very beautiful diamonds.

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-2145461.htm

these diamonds have practically perfect symmetry (i think). Are these good prices for a .8 carat diamond? I can easily scroll through the jamesallen and bluenile databases and find cheaper diamonds, which is why I'm so hesitant. Some expert advice would be very welcomed.

So my question is would it be wiser to get a slightly lower quality diamond and potentially pay 500-1000 less?

Thanks

What is the specifications that you ask them to look for?

here is the email i sent

"I''m looking for a .85 -.95 carat diamond that is G or better, ideal cut, SI1 or SI2 maybe even I1, is eye clean for around 2500-3500. I''ve been searching every day but haven''t really narrowed my choices yet. Your help would be greatly appreciated. :)"

a little too broad?

wow, 2nd post and you''ve already saved me a good chunk of change. I didn''t know there was a pricescope discount! where do i see that?

That diamond was also in the list of diamonds they sent me. The one i linked is about 200 more than that one. I couldn''t see the angles to input it into the cut advisor, so i didn''t bother with it.. Looking at it again the depth and table look a little better than the one i linked right?

I chose the .85 carat because the spread is a little better. Which would be the better diamond?

PS discount, just use the link when you search for a stone from PS, it should automatically reflect on the price when you get to the page on the vendor. Else, just notify JA that you are a PS member.

Ya, spread is slightly better but only for a 0.1mm increase in diameter. Ask yourself do you want to pay that much for that small an increase in diameter that no one will see once the stone is mounted in a setting.

Expert are still debating on if H&A will have better performance. So, I would suggest that as you are on a budget, not to go for one unless you really want one. You can only see the Hearts image of the stone when it is loose, by looking at the pavilion with a H&A scope, once that is mounted you will not be able to see that.

Also, I think JA's coupons are not cumulative, so you probably cannot add the true5 to the PS discount but no harm asking JA to confirm.
