Hey All,

I have picked up a lot of great information from these forums in my diamond search and I thank all of you for that. I think I found a pretty promising prospect. I never really paid much attention to fluorescence but after I saw this diamond has a "Strong" fluorescence I started looking into it and it seems that that may or may not be a good thing. I was hoping I could get some honest opinions on this diamond overall and if I should pass on it because of the fluorescence or any other reason.

Thank you in advance!!

Here is a link to the diamond specs as well: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1106975

Welcome ! It looks like a nice make of diamond, not a superideal but good, did you pull the trigger already?

Regarding fluorescence, strong blue can very rarely cause the diamond to look milky in certain lights, but this is rare, check with JA to see if this diamond displays any negative effects, but as I say, it is rare. Fluorescence is a matter of taste, many here love it.

Thanks for the info. No I did not pull the trigger yet. The flouresence made me a little nervous but I may just get the stone and see if it looks good. Just out of curiosity, when you say "not superideal but good" what are the main factors you are looking at? I ran the cut advisor on the dimmensions and at least by that it should be a pretty brilliant stone, which is really what I am after.

Thanks!!

It says this diamond is no longer available, if you haven't bought it, maybe someone else has??

What I meant by a nice make of stone is, that this diamond has an excellent cut and is possibly quite a brilliant diamond, but we see a lot of very tightly crafted superdideal diamonds here, which this one isn't, although it is a very good diamond in it's own right probably. The table is slightly larger, the symmetry is very good, polish although is excellent. Most of the superideals we see have a smaller table, ex ex or Ideal Ideal for polish and symmetry. But this is probably a good diamond and far better than most you would find in the non Pricescope world.

If this diamond is still available, get the guys at James Allen to check it out for you with the fluorescence, they will be able to tell you if it is an issue or not.

I put in on hold today, that''s why it is saying that.

Ok! Also if you like, there is a thread with pics of diamonds with strong blue fluorescence you could hunt for, to give you some idea of how these diamonds can look, I tried to find it for you, but my computer is acting up with the search tool at the moment.

Thanks for all the help. I talked to JA and they already had the stone in, they said there is no milky/oily issue with it. Coincendentially, they said they wouldn''t carry a stone that did. I ordered the ring, so I will be sure to post pics when I get it.

I didn't think they would, but it is always best to ask. Excellent news and I look forward to the pics when you get it!
