Here we go. To summarize my story as briefly as possible I am in the process of trying to create my idea of fabulous studs. For my 40th birthday this year and 10th anniversary next year my hubby said "how bout a diamond for each?".....um....YEY!!!!! So here I go trying to buy these diamonds.....
I am after a 2 ctw.set or just shy of that. I like the idea of each diamond being in the .90ct range. It just seems a bit more cost effective. My budget is around 4k for each stone.
I was poking around a vendor called "brilliance". Anyone familiar with them? And I happened upon a diamond I really liked. I ended up purchasing it thru them a couple of weeks ago. Here are the first diamonds stats:
Gia,RB, triple ex, .92cts,I color,si2 clarity, clarity characteristics-crystal,eye clean, measurements- 6.29-6.34x3.83mm., table 58 percent, depth 60.6 percent. Crown angle looks like 34.0 and pavilion looks like 41.0 ( hope i have that right)
Now this diamond is very pretty, don't get me wrong. I think it scored a 1.4ex on the hca ( again, if I am doing it right). My one hesitation with it is I kinda wish I could see more of the hearts and arrows effect. Specifically the arrows. I like when your able to see the contrast of the dark arrows running thru the bright white of the diamond. But maybe in a diamond of this size it doesn't stand out as much? Or I should have maybe purchased one that was specifically a H&A? Am I being too fussy? It is definitely a very sparkly diamond.....maybe for my next stone I should go with a H&A? Will I notice that big of a difference do you think?
Brilliance does have a 30 day return policy so maybe I should return it and start again? I was very happy with their service. Specifically Evan who was more than accommodating.
I had it set into a martini style setting in white gold. The other earring was set with a temporary cz. This way I can wear them until I purchase the second stone.
What do you think? Any suggestions out there would be greatly appreciated!! This is such a big purchase for me I just don't want to have regrets. Thanks so much!
