So I have my heart set on deep red/cabernet/cranberry color bridesmaid dresses. I''m getting married early Sept 09, but I don''t want to do traditional fall colors for the flowers (orange, yellow, brown). I''m looking for any color suggestions for the flower arrangements and bouquets.

So far, I''m thinking of a deep reds and purples. I''m just not sure if that''s too dark for a Labor Day weekend wedding. Anyone else have suggestions???

Oh, and we''re definitely not into the red and pink bouquet idea. Thanks!

what about reds with purples for flowers?

Or give me a bit and I''ll post a pick of my aunt''s which was reds, with a little ivory, green and brown mixed in

They had a red/lavender combo in the new Martha Stewart. My eyes didn''t like it, but if Martha says so...!

I''ll have to find a closer one, but this was the look of my aunt''s

btw, that''s me on the far far left

For colors in general, I'd say use the cranberry (very pretty!) as the primary color with brown and some natural plant green to lighten up the colors a bit. That combination still looks "fall" but not the typical leaf changing colors.

For the flowers, I think the cranberry/deep red color of the dresses, with plum and wine colored flowers would be beautiful. Very deep and colorful. And use some greenery to have some color range. In the flowers thread that's going on right now in BIW there are some beautiful dark boquets in there. I also love the cranberry colored calalily boquets linked in the older thread in that post.

ETA: Here's the thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/flowers-flowers-and-more-flowers-show-us-yours.97894/ I love the first pic posted and also muffin's boquet - I think both of those would be lovely with your dresses.

It sounds like you want to do pretty much exactly what we did!! We had deep reds and purples for the flowers including black dahlias and black magic roses, they were stunning!!

I don''t think they''re too dark for September, we got married on October 3rd and we did the deep colors...because that''s what we wanted!! Don''t let the season dictate what you choose too much. Here are a couple of pictures of our flowers:

Bridesmaids bouquets...all of our bouquets had black ostrich feathers and we loved them!!

I love this color combination:

You could also do this one, with cranberry red, brown and a light olive-y green.

Personally, I think the deep red, purple and blue combinations are a bit dark for early September. It''s still officially summer until Sept. 20.

I''m in love with this red and a lighter purple...does this work for a Labor Day twilight wedding?
