I was wondering if anyone could help me with something. I am purchasing a Princess cut stone that is 1.28ct. Colorless although i cant remember which letter. I believe F.
I only real inclusions I was told about were 3 of them One small carbon spot that you can see from the side of the stone. And 2 carbon dots at the edge that are visible with the plain eye from the top of the stone.
I am wondering what rating this would fall in? I checked the SI2 and it says you need the 10X to see the inclusions but i can see these with my eye just looking at them. Asking price is$4,000 loose.
Thanks for any advice or help.

I couldn't say what the clarity would be without seeing the stone, and even then, I still could only give you a rough guess.

It sounds to me like what you explain could be in the SI to I range, depending on the size of the inclusions.

Also, it was my understanding that SI meant that a professional could spot the inclusions with the naked eye; a loupe is only required for a stone with VS or higher clarity (for a professional).

Hope that helped, and also hope that I'm not being wrong or misleading. I'm far from an expert.

Thanks for the help. All the stuff ive read has said that a professional could spot the inclusions with the naked eye. However, Im not a professional and I can spot them in bright light. They look like charcoal dots the size of a grain of pepper.

The stone can be a legitimate SI2 and habe eye visible inclusions to boot. SO can SI1, just that one should have a harder time going after them and the cahnces that you can't actually see inclusions is bigger.

All in all, why spend anything on a piece you do not like?

The price is good but not unheard of. Why not get an eye clean G-H?

If you can spot them easily in light with the naked eye, then the stone would have to be SI or lower. If you're looking at expensive stones, buy a 10x loupe (I love mine :D) If they're really small, then you might be looking at an SI1, but I would assume that it would depend on how many of these "spots" there are in the stone.

I take it the stone doesn't have a GIA/AGS/EGL report? Are you looking to purchase it?

I think there are 3 spots that i can see without help. Other than that I cant see anything else naked eye or with the loop. I choose a colorless diamond but with inclusions because I could tell the difference in color easily when next to anything white.

Sorry, did you purchase this diamond already, or is it a candidate for purchase?

Do you have any other information on the stone? Carat weight, cut type, measurements, etc?
