So, I''ve been lurking for a few weeks and have learned a tremendous amount of information.

I''ve learned about color, cut, clarity. Now I need some help with depth and table percentages. I''ve found two sites listing semi-similar percentages and need advice from the PS all stars.

Site one:
Depth: 67-72%
Table: 54-61%

Site two:
Depth: 58-69%
Table: 50-65%

I''ve also found several stones on BN and White Flash, but not seeing them in person is tough. Lastly, the B&M stores talk about servicing the ring down the road. Important?

A sampling of stones I''ve found

(All very good cut)

1.54
F
VS2
Depth: 66.8
Table: 66.0
6.39 X 6.30 X 4.21
$10,900

1.61
F
VS1
Depth: 68.1
Table: 60.0
6.57 x 6.46 x 4.40
$12,400

1.57
G
VVS1
Depth: 59.1
Table: 63.0
6.86 x 6.84 x 4.04
$12,900

Thoughts on these diamonds, others and general Asscher buying tips are greatly appreciated.

table under 65%
depth under 70% unless it has a price break or is an antique style cut.

Depth could very well be over 70% and still be an awesome rock..., if its good for the "antique style cut" it can be as good for modern type cuts as well...
But as strmrd writes..., it all depends on the crown height..., (so for example a 73% total depth which only has a 10% crown height is not a good sign).
Another thing..., the higher the crown height = the smaller the table..., (for example a 20-25% crown height combined with a 70% table is not a good sign...)

Yes! Yes! Yes! Not all Asschers are made the same, so make sure that you can get pictures. You can also go through the sites here and describe what you like about Asschers to some of the vendors who don''t post online and they can bring in something you might like. But, still, make sure that you see it, too.

As for servicing down the road, most online retailers offer this service, too, just via mail. From what I have read from BMs, that is more a trick to either get your warranty voided (because you miss a 6 mo. appointment) or to get you into the store to buy more stuff. I wouldn''t worry about it.
