Hi,
Im new here and Ive already bought a diamond which is being set in a ring at the moment, however .... Im soooo confused about it, here''s the link to the stone and what worries me, is that the stone wont have much fire/sparkle as you can see on the video, it doesn''t seem to sparkle much, My husband says it has to do with which lens and camera you use to film it, but Im so scared Ive made a bad choice in stone..... so please anyone help me....!!

here''s the stone I bought http://rockdiamond.com/index.php?crn=207&rn=1407&action=show_detail

and here''s another one from the same company which sparkles soooo much http://rockdiamond.com/index.php?crn=256&rn=1421&action=show_detail

Also anyone who has experience with Diamonds by Lauren? and SI2 graded diamonds?

I would recommend you seeing the stone and having it appraised before you get it set. Once it's set you can't very easily change your mind.

Your eyes will tell you it it's right for you. It is pretty shallow compared to most (depth is usually greater than the table) but you just have to see it in person. I believe others have bought from Diamonds by Lauren.

Hi,
thanks for replying, I would love to see it in person, but I live in Denmark and the shop''s in NY, so I cant see the stone before getting the actual ring. The depth worries me aswell and Im thinking perhaps thats why there isnt much sparkle from the stone?

Help I dont know what to do...any other opinions..?!

Diamonds by Lauren has some wonky stones on their site from time to time. I would not buy any stone from them without a GIA certification and SARIN data, or the ability to see it with my own eyes.

Their SI1 and SI2 stones are often NOT eyeclean. It''s a buyer beware situation IMO, as they do have some nice diamonds, but they also have some real dogs.

I agree about Diamonds by Lauren--I looked into getting an asscher from them when I was still shopping for my e-ring (about 2 years ago) and the specs were always wonky. Shallow depths, huge tables. Basically, everything you could ever want for a cheap, mediocre asscher.

I would probably reach out to GOG if you want to buy in the U.S.

there are much better ones out there than those 2.

i got my ering with an asscher from them about a year ago and i''ve been very happy with it. i know my stone isn''t the best but i love the wonkiness! if you want a new video just ask david before he sets the stone, i''m sure he can help you out!

From the specs the diamond will have a lovely white colorless appearance and nice brilliance. From a pricing standpoint, well, if the price on that link is what you were paying then you might want to dig around, you can get closer to VS clarity for that kind of money

I like the second diamond better than the first, but it''s small (and Asschers are small for carat weight to begin with), and D/IF is totally overkill. On the other hand, I''d be a little concerned about an SI2 in a step cut, because step cuts don''t hide flaws as well as brilliant cuts do. You can''t go wrong following storm''s advice...he''s the go-to guy for Asscher advice around here.

I suggest you speak to David at DBL. Be frank. Ask him about the diamond you liked in the video compared to the one you've purchased. Your husband is absolutely right about camera settings, lighting, etc., but for your own peace of mind an onsite expert is best-equipped to answer your specific questions.
