Hello everyone! First time post here. I have some questions about a Tiffany engagement ring

The sale assistant sent me the detailed information of this diamond ring

Carat .89, Color G, Clarity VS1
Precision of Cut: Excellent
Symmetry:Very Good
Polish:Excellent
Fluorescence: None

CUT PROPORTIONS

TOTAL DEPTH PERCENTAGE 62.9%
PAVILION ANGLE 41.3°
TABLE SIZE PERCENTAGE 55%
LOWER HALF LENGTH PERCENTAGE 80%
CROWN HEIGHT PERCENTAGE 15.7%
GIRDLE THICKNESS MEDIUM
CROWN ANGLE 34.8°
GIRDLE FINISH FACETED
STAR LENGTH PERCENTAGE 50%
CULET NONE
PAVILION DEPTH PERCENTAGE 43.9%

The general condition is fine to me (maybe the symmetry is a little bit unsatisfied), but I am not sure the detailed information, eg. pavilion, crown, etc. I think the depth is too deep. Beside this, are there anything not very good that I should ask tiffany change? Thank you very very much! ^^

Two things I'm going to comment on:

1. Is the Tiffany experience important to you/your intended - the champagne, the authentic Tiffany setting, the blue box? Or would you both be happier with a bigger, likely more tightly-cut stone from a PS vendor in a Tiffany-style setting for the same price?

2. The stone itself: VG Sym is no issue to for the non-expert. You could go lower than G and VS1 if you'd be interested in stretching your budget, and it's VERY unlikely that you or your future fiancee would notice. Yes, total depth is higher than most here would prefer, but I wouldn't say it's something to lose sleep over; I would lose sleep over the angles: the pavilion is very deep for that crown (it should be near 40.8) - the stone will be leaky. I'd pass. This is a helpful calculator (you want a score below 2):

Beware Tiffany lighting! It could make rough sparkle, really.

If ya like the ring, use your eyes to be the final judge. I bought my wife''s ring, .86 ct at Tiffs and compared for several rings. There stores almost always have north facing windows that you can hold the ring up in real light to look at.

The ring that showed up best on Idealscope was not the one my eye thought looked better. The one I ended up getting came in at like a 2.8 vs a 1.6.

I would use Ideal scope if I was ordering loose stones to look at. The associate should be able to bring in other rings for you to compare to if you want.

Let your eyes be the judge.

Hope that helps.

I ran the numbers though the Holloway Cut Advisor (HCA) and it came out a 4.2. We (PS) usually tell people
to eliminate any stone that scores over 2.0.

Here are the specs for it

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good

Total Visual Performance 4.2 - Good - Only if price is your main criterion

I would skip on this stone (especially since you are paying a premium for it from Tiffs).

Thank you guys! Yeah I already passed this one, and looking for a better one. Good luck to everyone! :)
