Hey,
I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback. I was recently given a diamond ring and I'm not too sure from what I've read if it was worth all the money. It looks awsome and sparkles like crazy, but I feel like too much was paid for it.

The details:
ct. .99
measurments: 6.17-6.24x4.05mm
Color:g
Clarity:VS2
Polish/Symmetry: good/good
My fiancee paid 6,400 plus for this was it too expensive? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Okay... well does it have a certificate? If so, can you run and get it... we need a little more information!

Also, information on the setting would be helpful. If that price includes the setting.

That is too high for just the stone. My brother-in-law bought a 1.03 H VVS2 ideal cut stone for $6400 in May. At .99, that would be in a lower price category than 1 ct. It must be deep or have a thick girdle, because a 1 carat stone should be about 6.5mm in diameter. But it''s great if it sparkles and looks beautiful to you! That''s the most important thing!

It''s a Leo diamond on a princess setting it in white gold with platinum prongs. I''ve read horror stories about Leo on here, so know I''m a bit concerned that he might have paid too much. He bought it at Marks and Morgans and it comes with the life-time warranty and all that other Jazz and it comes with the IGI certificate.

A Leo princess then? Well... did he pay too much? He bought a branded diamond. They come with a premium... are you paying too much for a tiffany 1 carat at 12 K? Some say yes, some say no. If it's sparkly and you love it... I say no, he didn't pay too much. Could he have gotten an ideal princess in a white gold with platinum head setting for less without the branding...yes. But that's not the question. BUT if you want to know what you would have paid for a .99 carat ideal AGS0 diamond at .99 carats and G VS... about 4 K for the diamond. About 1200 for an all platinum setting.

I think I expressed myslef wrong this is a round "modified brilliant cut. I think the setting is called princess, I dont know I know it has 4 prongs holding the stone. I dont know if that makes a difference. Do you think the cut is good according to the numbers I listed?

Okay... then. You need to give more information on the cut. I would need table and depth information as well as crown and pavillion angles. But I can tell you right now good/good on polish and symmetry aren''t my cup of tea.

it's overly deep and overpriced. the face up size is more like .9 cts, and you should be able to get something >1.10 cts for that price.

OR. Julie with her round expertise.

How''s the return policy on that sucker?

I don''t have that info. this IGI certificate doesnt say that. all it has are the measurments I listed before. This is a small wallet size IGI and it just gives the measurements above and the info on the leo laser #. Just out of curiosity do you know about the masterpiece diamond from Helzberg? If so which one do you think is of better quality, the masterpiece or the LEO? I saw a masterpiece at Helbergz, but it looked dark, when I look down at my ring it looks pretty clear. I dont knwo if thats a good think or a bad thing. What do you think? I really appreacite you taking the time to give me some valuable info. I''m new at this stuff.

The ring came with a 90 day return policy so he has until sept. 10th to return it for a full money refund.

Yeah, I'd definitely return it.

If you like the extra sparkle of extra facets, I'd go for a Solasfera.

Hey everyone thanks for the info. I will see what I decide to do with this thing.

Oh Honey... ultimately it''s not the cost or the cut. It''s a satisfaction question. If you love it. If your fiance loves it. And if you can look beyond the specs and love what you see there... enjoy it and wear it proudly. Please.

On PS most of us... especially the ''regulars'' have a mind clean thing... we have to know when we look at our diamonds that it''s the best deal, best diamond we could get for our budget and for our tastes. Not everyone is like that... or has to be. Ultimately a ring, especially an engagement ring, is an emotional purchase. If your emotions tell you that your ring is right for you... it doesn''t really matter what we think.

It''s a bit deep as I have a .92 that faces up at 6.27x6.29 as Julie said your measurements are more like a .90 then .99. But ultimately you have to love it. I looked at the masterpiece diamonds at Heltzberg and for the price you can find a way better deal online. If you love the way your diamond looks and it sparkles and makes you happy then no worries over the numbers. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hey everyone, thanks for all your help. I really do love my ring and the compliments I get. I was just stressing out on the numbers when I shouldnt have been. I learned a lot on here and I appreciate it.
