Help with .75ct or 1ct peg head needed?

Im trying to get my stone set before the big proposal next week and keep getting mixed information. So if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. My setting has a peg head, 1ct-1.5ct (6mm to 6.5) my stone is .81ct (5.93x5.97). One jeweler says I need a new peg head, its too big. One say it will work. Any advice would help, thanks so much!

A 1 carat is 6.4-6.5mm. A 1.5 is 7.4mmish. I'm not a jeweler but I would think you would need a new peg head also. Maybe some
bench could make it work but I'm not sure how safe it would be or how good it would look.
