Hi all,
I would love some help and feedback with the CADs for my ring. On the first round of CADs it was easy to pick out the changes I wanted, this is getting closer to what I want, and I need some more experienced eyes to examine the details!

Different from the inspiration ring, I asked for my diamond to be set higher, so that I could see the culet above a 2mm band, for the prongs at the fat end of the baguette to be replaced with a thin bar instead, and for double claw prongs for the centre stone.

Concerns-
1. The total height of the setting is 7.12mm. Is this going to feel high? I would like a "medium" height. High enough for the diamond to pop, and to see the culet above a 2mm wedding band, but not so high it is awkward. My centre stone has a depth of 4.10mm. I could ask him to bring the height down to around 6.5mm-ish. Would that make a big difference in comfort when wearing?

2. The bar at the fat end of the baguette and the transition from the skinny end to the band. In my inspiration ring it is a smooth transition, and the metal wraps around the baguette. I thought I would like a thin bar better than the prongs, but am now not sure. Have no idea what this is called or how to ask for it? Just know I am dubious about the bar near the centre stone adding extra width there and looking clunky? Is this maybe just a CAD thing and it will be less clunky?

Any other suggestions or opinions are very, very welcome! Thank you!

It's a beautiful setting!! Can't wait to see it finished.

It will be very pretty!

I like prongs at the wide end of the baguette rather than a bar because it might look too heavy. Pretty inspiration ring but the center is set a bit low compared to the sides for my taste. But this is your ring and you must love it.

Oooohhhh!!! That looks really nice!!

Thanks Mayk and Msop04! I am very excited to see it!

And thanks for the feedback Redwood66! I think I may ask to go with the prongs...I have the same concerns with the bar looking heavy. I thought I would like it better, but not sure I do at all. I agree with the centre being low in the inspiration ring. That is one of the changes I asked for- for the centre diamond to be higher than the baguettes. I like the profile in the CADs with the centre higher...just not sure about an overall height of 7.12mm...

I agree with prongs at the high ends of the baguettes. 7mm doesnt seem too high to me although there does seem like a lot of
space under your stone.

I have a 3 stone with baguettes and mine is set really high. Doesnt bother me as far as hitting on things but it does slide around
the side of my finger a lot. Dont know if the height of the center stone affects that or not (I would think it could be part of the
cause).

Its going to be really pretty when they get all the engraving done!

In looking at it again, the center might be moved down once the bar is removed and prongs are added. I think that will help and you can ask David to drop it a bit.

Did you ask David what a "common" height for this ring is (since it is a very classic style). That would be my question since you don't want too high or too low you said.

The setting is gorgeous!

Thank you so much for all the feedback everyone! It was invaluable in helping me to go back to David knowing what I needed to ask.

I asked to go back to a prong setting for the baguettes, and what he thought about the height. He said it was a little higher than average, and suggested lowering to 6.8mm. He has now finished the wax model, and asked if I wanted it lowered a bit more than the 6.8mm?

Any thoughts on the wax are much appreciated!

There is several mm of airspace under the diamond. Do you want it to sit this high? 6.8 mm is very high off the finger. I have several rings that are this high but are only so due to the depth of the stone (they are set as low as possible) and I have to be extremely careful that I don't bang it around. It really sticks out to me.

Hi Chrono, I am concerned about the height. I want the culet to be at least 2.3mm above my finger so that I can see it over a band I will be wearing with the ring, so there will be some airspace. I know that I don't like the look when the culet is "buried" in the bottom of the ring with a smaller stone. But I also don't want it to be awkwardly high...

I could ask him to lower it to 6.4mm and still have it meet my criteria. Do you think that 0.4mm lower will make a big difference in wearability?

Yes, the closer you can get to 6 mm compared to the current almost 7 mm makes a difference in wearability.

Thanks! :)) I am emailing David right now to ask for the change.
