Thanks so much everyone. I made a separate post above with an update and a special thank you. Sorry this turned into the bickering session that it did. I needed a place to vent and I apologize again for how this turned into a he said, she said battle.

I know this is over, but I must say that I think the VW analogy was spot on (and I''m a sucker for these because I''m studying to be a paralegal). If you crash your car, you can''t take it back to VW and expect them to replace it. That''s an insurance issue. I think that point was missed more than once in this thread. It''s not even about a defective product, it''s about a person damaging their property and expecting the "manufacture" to fix it free of charge when that simply never happens.
