I have started looking for a engagement ring diamond and ring. I have been searching online (bluenile) and local stores. I found a Round 1.76 ct that sounds promising but I do not know if the wisps or feathers will be visible to the naked eye. Since it is an online purchase I was hoping some of the experts on here may have some advice for this diamond.

I am including the bluenile information in this post. As a reply I will include the GIA pictures with the wisps and feather marks (not all that clear).

I really do appreciate your help. I want my girlfriend to be ecstatic with my choice.

Thanks,
Chris

As I mentioned in the original post I would also include the GIA picture of the diamond with the noticeable marks.

Welcome to PS, more info is needed like the pavilion, cutlet and crown; you can get those from the certificate.

Thanks for the help. I believe I am adding the information that you wanted.

This is the info from the GIA report as well as BN.

I think it would be a good idea to contact Bluenile and ask them if this stone is eye clean, and what their definition of eye clean is

Hi Hemisphere Dancer!

I''m not an expert here by any means, however, having been a strictly Brick and Mortar buyer, I think that Whiteflash.com has converted me. If you are looking on Blue Nile you might want to check out what they have on Whiteflash that compares.

They have an "A Cut Above" stone that looks absolutely stunning and is touted to be "ideal" in all categories.
The following link will take you to some of the stones I found when searching for you ...

Excellent point, Maisie ... All Si2''s are not created equal. If it''s eyeclean and the documented inclusions do not interfere with the structural integrity, so to speak, then you should be fine providing that the specs fall within your desired "ideal" range.

I also plugged in your numbers in the Holloway Cut Advisor on Pricescope and found the following results ... looks pretty good to my amateur eyes.

Good job!

Thanks for the quick responses. I will have to give BN a call and ask them about eyeclean.

Please feel free to comment more.

All I know, is that is a great size!! Love it!

I placed a call to Blue Nile about where it was eye clean. Since that stone had not been requested he put the diamond on hold for me and put it in for review tomorrow. Should know more tomorrow night.

Hope it comes back with a good report, I think it is the right stone.

In the end I decided not to order this diamond. The feather and SI2 quality worried me too much.

I am close to a diamond and a ring through a good friend of the family that is a jeweler. Will update pricescope members on the final ring when it is in my possession in another week or so.

Fantastic! Probably a very wise decision!

Looking forward to your update!
