I have an appointment today at 3:00 PM with an Independent Appraiser for my recently purchased loose diamond. I found their name on PriceScope. This person has their own website and I can view their credentials online. That being said (and this may be a totally paranoid irrational fear
), how do I have trust of the services they are providing? I have no relationship with this person besides a brief phone call.
Most importantly, should I be concerned about scams (them "swapping out the diamond")? I've got insurance on the diamond, but is there anything I should do (maintain constant eye contact with the stone, etc.) while I'm having it appraised?

A reputable appraiser listed on PS would never risk their reputation and business by even thinking about swapping out stones. I have literally never heard of a story where that has ever happened, NEVER. It's one of those rumors that goes around and makes people irrationally fearful. Trust, relax, breathe.
