Help - to stack or not to stack?

Hello all,

I'm debating about getting a stacker to put in between my 7 stone and e-ring. I feel like the e-ring center stone gets blurred by the wedding band and now I'm thinking maybe I should have gotten smaller stones for the band?? I'm also hoping once I lose the few pounds I put on, that my hands will lose some of their chunk, lol, as they are certainly puffy! So, if I do a stacker, should I do a plain 1mm band that's virtually invisible but might give some needed separation between the 2 rings? Or a small micro pave ring, or a sapphire stacker? Help! Any ideas? What do you think will look the best? Am I being nit-picky?

I think all of your options sound amazing! If you go for the sapphire stacker, it will draw out the side sapphires of your 3 stone, where as if you stay with diamonds, your beautiful sapphires remains the 'stars of the show', so to speak. What look would you prefer?

You could just start with a 1mm spacer for definition first, then see how you like that look....

You have amazing rings right now - I'd worry that if you added any more to them, they would be overwhelmed! If it were my set, as much as I love ( and can NOT resist! ) more bling, I'd go with a spacer to protect the e-ring from girdle damage from the band, or a very thin channel set princess or french cut sapphire band. Mayk just sold hers, otherwise that would have been the perfect stacker, IMO!

Have fun playing with all your ideas!!!

Oh yes, the french cut sapphire stacker!!! I saw a pic of one recently and that's what got me thinking :naughty: You're so right, though. I think I should start with a 1mm spacer to see how I feel about it, before dropping (nonexistent!) cash on a new ring, lol!

I would probably just go with a plain spacer - I just like the clean look of your rings together, adding others might be a little too much IMO.

Thank you both for talking me down off the "jewelry ledge!" It's so hard not to want new things, lol!

you are preachin' to the choir!!! I have ZERO resistance once I'm caught in the laser beam of a diamond sparkle -- I know what you are going thru!!

I always love stacking :) I love your ideas of a sapphire band or a thin pave band. I would caution against a plain 1mm stacker only because you want every band that shares the stage with those beautiful rings to look like it "belongs" there, if that makes sense? When I first got my wedding set, I tried a cheap-y 1mm white gold spacer, and it drew my eye too much because I knew it was there for a functional purpose, rather than to add beauty to my set. I would keep the mentality of your search for a "stacker" rather than a "spacer." That is a very subtle, but important difference, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I think a plain band would look great in between your 2 rings, but I would go with a 2 or 3 mm band, rather than 1mm. I love having my 3mm plain platinum band because I feel it adds dimension to my set, and I can wear it alone when I can't wear diamonds.

I'd go shopping for an afternoon and try a bunch on. It's always hard for me to visualize the overall effect, once I've had a chance to try different options on, I'm usually surprised by what I feel looks and works the best. Takes lots of photos, then when you get home you can look at them more objectively, or even post here for opinions. Your rings are gorgeous btw!

I totally agree that you need to go try some on! That is the only way you'll know. But I think a plain band will be best! And like Enerchi already said, you do need a spacer because your diamond band may already be scratching your e-ring prongs.

This. Try BEFORE you buy....

Now I have a fun errand to do one day this week!

Can I be honest? I think the band is a bit too much for your e-ring, maybe because the height is taller... If it were me, I would wear the 7-stone as a right hand ring and go for a thinner band (or a couple stackers) to go with your e-ring.

Agree w/ stargurl78. Have you thought about 2 or 3 micropave eternity stackers instead to get the bling factor you need? That's what I wear w/ my 3 stone and I love the combined look.

I definitely recommend trying a bunch on. I bought a bunch of silver stacking "test" rings. I was very surprised at what I did like, after wearing different ones for days at a time. Let us know what you end up choosing! :wavey:

I absolutely agree. You have beautiful rings but anything else would be tooooo much, I think. Plain spacer definitely!

Oh, and I agree that a smaller diamond band would probably go better with your 3 stone e-ring if you could switch the larger diamond band to your right hand.

I actually vote for a spacer that IS a stacker, if that makes sense - one of the best jewelry purchases I made this year cost me less than a hundred bucks on eBay: a 1.8 mm floral band from 1936, with some of the finest milgrain you ever did see. If I wear it with my band alone, it looks delicate and ethereal and lovely, but it also makes it possible for me to wear a band with a carat weight that rivals my center stone. Before, when I tried putting the band with my e-ring, it looked really clunky ... now it looks more defined, if that makes sense. I just finished a move, so I'm still looking for a camera, but I'll try to post some pics tomorrow. ;)

I've been wearing them separately actually, I like the bling factor on both hands! :naughty: I agree that I should have gone with a smaller band with my e-ring, I just don't love mine together like I thought I would. But I'm happy wearing them separately for now, and I also love to change up my look so I will be looking for micro pave stackers in the future to pair with the e-ring. If only I could win the PS holiday giveaway! That would help, lol.

There are some super thin stackers that might do what you need- add a spacer and a little sparkle. They aren't super blingy, but more decorative than a plain spacer which might be just right for you.

I hate to say it but I would have to see pictures as I'm horrible at visualizing what jewelry might look like. But I do agree that I think your center stone would stand out more with some seperation. I would think a plain spacer would be best, but at the same time my heart would sing if you got a french cut sapphire one and it worked!! I would probably not go with pave or another dimond band as I think it would make the gap look bizarre.

oh i think a french cut sapphire band would be just lovely
