I''ve done some comparison shopping, and these are what I''ve narrowed my choice down to for a round cut diamond:

Cut Carat Color Clarity Depth Table Girdle
Round 0.83 F VS1 61.9 56 M-STK
Round 0.87 D VS1 62.8 55 M-TK
Round 0.89 F VS1 62.1 59 M-STK
Round 0.83 E VS1 62.3 55 TN-M

Of these four rocks, which would you recommend. Each is priced somewhere between $4,000 and $4,1000.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome on the boards!

I''m sorry to say you didn''t provide us with enough info to make a choice. 62.8% depth may be a little deep though. Do you have or can you get Sarin reports, IdealScope pictures and such on these stones?
May I also suggest to consider SI1s... The difference in looks is nil, but they allow you to get a cheaper or bigger stone...or both! lol

I''ve found these diamonds on various online sites (whiteflash, bluenile, ERD). I don''t think they show much more information on those sites. Am I not looking in the right places?

Am guessing you''re using the Pricescope Your Diamond feature right? Click on the link directly to the diamond and you will find more information............

you need to look at in-house inventory, which will give more info

I apologize for learning slow here, but on those links to the rocks there isn''t much more information besides the diamond''s measurements. I can link each of the 4 diamonds here:

Is the link below my signature helpful?

The signature is helpful, though when I run the search the only diamonds I get back are ones from JamesAllen.com. It looks like whiteflash, ERD, and bluenile don''t give the crown, angle, or idealscope reports.

What additional information is necessary to evaluate the diamonds?

WF, Blue Nile will definitely be able to give you the angles; you have to click on the link to the lab report.

I don't see anything in WF's in-house inventory, .8-.9, colorless, and VS clarity that fits your budget, and nothing from Blue Nile that's a better value/price than the James Allen one I linked.

that one julie posted looks awesome to me...

as she said, there isn''t much out there in-house that fits your parameters. .80-.90 is a hard carat weight to find stones within...especially well-cut!

Julie picked a really sweet one. Pickings are really slim in this range though, as Mara pointed out.
If you don''t mind me, here are a couple more:
0.90 E/SI2

0.81 G/VS2

0.85 E/SI1

Have fun!

I didn''t realize my range is so constricting!

Basically the diamond I want is driven by budget and other factors:

Cut: Very Good/Ideal. I''ve been reading about the depth/table and it seems that cut affects sparkle the most. This is where I want to make sure I''m not skimping.
Color: Colorless (D,E,F)
Clarity: this seems to be the area i''m least sure. my girlfriend hinted at VS1 or better, but realistically would a VS2 or an S1 affect the sparkle of the ring?
Carat: At least 0.80, as high as I can go given my budget of about $4000.

Agree this is favorable; a few items.

- Anyone know if JA options are more available under the in-house vs search by cut?
- This one above is only listed in their in-house options (and search all)
- I don''t think anyone cares, but I''ve asked Leonid to let me update my shopping strategies to include that in-house db, which uniquely carries some items not also in the search by cut db, which had been my more exclusive stomping grounds.
- Agree about comments on VS 1 & 2
