Hi Jlao5-- From a cut perspective, it''s not that great. Using the classic princess cut chart (found here: http://www.gemappraisers.com/oldcutgraderules.asp ), the crown and table would be classified 2A at best, and IMO, there''s rarely a reason for a polish grade on a princess to be only "good". The odds are pretty good that this would be an underperforming princess.
For your second question, a great way to compare pricing is to use the "Pricescope Your Diamond" function above. It can be fun to click through and see the options and see the pricing that internet vendors can do.
I''m going to take a guess that there will be a few other posters who will promote an AGS-0 princess, which is a princess cut that has been cut to the new standards laid out by AGS in 2006; the trade-off is that they are a bit more expensive. If you''re going to stick to a classic cut princess found online, using the chart linked above is a great way to start. At that point, it''s best to go through a vendor who will call in the diamond and take a photo of it through an idealscope and give you his/her in-person opinions as well (assuming the budget doesn''t really have room for an independent appraisal). If you haven''t seen what an idealscope image looks like, whiteflash.com includes them on their listed diamonds, and the amount of red saturation is a pretty good predictor of how good the stone is going to be in person. Of course, posting here is a great way to get neutral feedback too... good luck!
This does not look like a well cut princess stone, hence the lower price reflects that too. The angles are not good and the crown is awfully low. I would pass on this stone and look for a better cut princess diamond.
If you are having a rough time looking for a well cut stone, an AGS0 princess stone is your best bet, however they are more expensive. If you clue us in to your budget and colour/clarity/size information, we might be able to help you find something within your budget.
