Well, after a long ride with quite a few bumps and obstacles we have come down to one of two stones from Whiteflash...when fi comes home from his business trip we will pull the trigger!

Stone:

Whiteflash ACA
. Carat: 2.336
. Depth %: 61.4
. Table %: 55.8
. Crown Angle: 34.7
. Crown %: 15.3
. Star : 53
. Pavilion Angle: 40.8
. Pavilion %: 43
. Lower Girdle %: 76
. Girdle: Thin to Medium Faceted

It has negligable flourescence, that shouldn''t be a bother should it?

We will have it set temporarily in either a Tiffany replica (Superbcert or WF) or this lovely fishtail from Excel. I won''t attach pics of the Tiff replica but I have a few questions about the fishtail setting as I am not as familiar with them. Later, next year, we will have it set by Leon.

I have saved Circe''s lovely setting in my favorites and the prongs on that setting are divine!

OK, I would like a knife edge setting, would this mounting look funny with a slight cathedral knife edge band instead of the plain band?? I am loving the uniqueness of the fishtails a ton! Reminds me of my grandmothers wedding set!! The plain band gives it a more modern feel to me versus engraving or pave stones....

Or, do any of you know where to find other solitaire fishtails? I''ve contacted a few places but they say I must find a smaller stone to fit their mountings....I will stick with the 2.3 and shop around!

Please, any help would be appreciated!

Out of curiousity, what is the color and diameter of the ACA?

Do you plan to have Leon do a solitaire, or pave or side stones?

Personally, I would not spend much for a setting I planned to replace in a year. Is it out of the question to get the Leon now?

If going for a temporary setting, I would either choose an inexpensive white gold solitaire, or pick a setting (either solitaire or 3-stone) I thought would look great with a colored stone as a RHR later on.

The fish tail is cool looking, but I have no idea of its price.

you can have this custom, since it doesn't have any diamonds in it, simple gold ring with this fishtail prongs my guestimate (consumer guessing and having done many custom with and without diamonds ring in one year) would be around $1100 maybe? or less depending how heavy it weighs, This very beautiful.

Seriously, you could tape that thing to a strip of paper and wrap it round your finger and people would be oohing and aahing over it

Since it''s a temp setting I''d actually suggest going with a simple stock gold number - you don''t want to have an expensive setting sitting empty in your jewellery box. The excel/WF replicas would be excellent

I had WF set my round stone in a fishtail setting. It came out just beautiful. They nailed the design perfectly. It looks very much like the Excel one.

If you like the fishtail setting, and I do, then this is the best option since WF will take responsibility for the stone during setting.
