Help selling a ring!!!!

A friend is recently divorced and wanting to sell her engagement ring/wedding set. She has an offer from a well known local jewlery store but feel they may be trying to take advantage. Could someone please give advice.

Marquise center stone 1.42ct. Stone is EGL certified.

10.70x5.81x3.85mm
Color-F
Clarity-SI2

The ring aslo contains four round cut diamonds with an apporximtae total wieght of .73cttw.

Avg Color: G-H
Avg Clairty: SI

Looks like current retail for the stone would be somewhere around $5000 and she could expect to get much less than that reselling. You won''t get much for a used setting.

This thread may be useful to give your friend some other options for selling her diamond. It may be worth her getting an appraiser to look at the ring, to give her a realistic idea of what she can get for it. Unfortunately, you don''t normally get back nearly what you paid in the first place when trying to resell.
