Hello community! Long time stalker here! Hubby finally gave me the clear to look for an upgrade to a larger ideal cut lab diamond for our upcoming 10 year anniversary. I wanna go lab so i can get my bigger dream stone! I have done some research on HTHP GCAL 8X stones and it seems they are a sure bet for a ideal cut performing stone. I want as close to 9mm as possible and G+ color with eye clean clarity. I came across this stone and was wondering if it’s a good choice. If the master diamond selectors Dejawiz and Kim N or anyone else could tell me their opinion on it and if they notice any blue tint. Also open to any other stones recommended! Thank you all!

It's beautiful! The light return and proportions are terrific, and F VS1 is a sweet spot for many. I think you managed to find the only HPHT in this size and price range! I just did a search and couldn't find any other HPHT. I don't believe I see a blue tint, but Adiamor has an excellent return policy, so if you find that you don't like it in person, you can try again with a different stone. I would at least put it on hold so it don't get sniped.

Thank you! I went ahead and snagged it. I agree about the F VS1 being a sweet spot. I truly appreciate it!

Not anything that obvious. I see a hint of yellow-gray hue, so I think that the diamond that you selected is going to be a great one.

Thank you Deja! I did have a question you might or not be able to answer or Kim N. I was looking at my diamond on the gcal certificate and was comparing it to other hpht diamonds. I noticed with the top and bottom photos from my gcal cert my diamond looks more brighter(?) than the other hpht diamonds I compared. Some even had higher color than mine but mine seems brighter. It looks brighter than all the CVD diamonds I looked at as well. Do you know why that is? If anyone else knows why this is please feel free to chime in. Thank you again! I will post some examples below with other HPHT diamonds:

I believe this is just due to the camera settings. And if it's not, your diamond being brighter can only be a good thing!

Agreed. These different diamonds may have been photographed with different cameras by different lab techs in different rooms on different days, resulting in slightly different outcomes with the photos.

Just an update! I was very curuous so reached out to Angelo from GCAL to confirm. He is quite the wealth of knowledge! Lightning fast to respond as well! He truly takes pride and passion in his lab certs! He knew all about my stone after giving him the cert #. He confirmed what the vendor and lab growers confirmed that the stone has no blue/gray tint or hue. One thing I was concerned about was phosphoresce. I see ADA diamonds posting videos on their IG of HPHT stones after direct sunlight exposure glowing in the dark. He said they test for phosphoresce with LW UV levels and if they glow orange after their test they will noted under flourescense Faint – Medium Orange – to Strong Orange for HPHT diamonds. He did say all HPHT will phosphoresce with short wave UV at wavelengths that are harmful to the human eye. Doesn’t sound like its something to be exposed to in day to day life. I didn’t quite ask him literally but I do have a strong suspicion all the GCAL 8X CVD diamonds are checked for stria issues affecting light performance. Can’t confirm 100% just my hunch feeling. After a few lengthly email responses with him I would have zero concerns with a CVD GCAL 8X. I told him it would be great to do a Q&A with him about lab diamonds on PS. He said he would love to do one if anyone could set one up. :) Sorry for the long post just wanted to pass along the knowledge!

Thanks for reaching out to Angelo and sharing this valuable info, MightyDucks!
I would LOVE to see a PS Webinar with Angelo talking all about their 8X grading and all the intricacies involved!

Well… she’s here! I am blown away from GCAL 8X and this is from someone who had a ACA for 10 years. She is more sparkly and puts out as much fire as my 55% table ACA.She has zero blue/gray tint or hue and there is no glow in the dark. I am a little worried she might be a little too big though! Maybe, it’s just in my area but you don’t see 2.5 carats in the wild as much! The perfect solitaire setting is very nice but nowhere near as nice as the vatche u-113 my former 1.5ct ACA held. The bottom photo is my former 1.5 ct ACA with the vatche u-113 I upgraded from as comparison. 24ECAEEC-935D-4110-B89D-ED0455740379.jpeg 7409DE63-285F-4C9F-B166-EC55074BBAEC.jpeg 3A36E396-E64E-4781-81A6-8D7AF62D91AD.jpeg 7F0068DC-DC36-46B9-884A-FABA84A6B9A4.jpeg A1453BB6-4209-444F-B723-7F8469D26C38.jpeg 2615F632-61D7-4670-896E-1795BB7CBC4E.jpeg
