So...
  • Radiant cut online you say, without the crushed ice look
  • < $55k USD, D-G colour, SI1 or better, you say
  • 1.2-1.3:1 length to width ratio, you say
Love thoughts from the PS family!

  1. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/3.01-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-sku-1907572 - I like that it's "clear", but does that mean sparkle-less?
  2. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/3.02-carat-d-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-3690608 - D colour (!!) ... but fluorescent
  3. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/3.71-carat-f-color-si1-clarity-sku-3690649 - honkin' big... but feels more SI2?
  4. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/3.03-carat-g-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-2550302 - like the symmetry?
  5. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/2.51-carat-f-color-vs1-clarity-sku-2385381 - too small, but cleaner?

If I had to pick I'd probably go with 2.... However, given the radiant shape and how cut matters so much, maybe I should be considering whiteflash / ID?

There was a thread on here recently from a poster looking for radiants. For fancy cuts it's a lot harder to buy online as there's no numbers or standard parameters to go on. A vendor who can pick out a beauty for you would be a good bet, and if you can fly up to see their selection for you, even better. Speaking from my limited experience with radiants, I find this to be true - a stone that didn't much appeal to me in photos was the one that I liked the most when I saw it in real life.

Some reputable PS vendors who can do this include ID Jewelry or Diamonds by Lauren (DBL), who can both source and pick out lovely radiants for you. The thread that I mentioned earlier is here:

Great point @Alexiszoe - thanks!

Of those 5 I've listed, which one do you like the most? :D

The 4th one would be my favorite. You need to request ASET images from JA. They may only allow 3. If so, I would do these 3

about this one

I think you will get some big flashes and some small flashes from these stones vs only pin fire (small) flashes from the other stones.
I really like how you can see the double row of facets on the crown on number #2 and #4 stones. They are like little frames for the center of the stones.

Just to for warn you....asets for radiants are not pretty.

#2 and 3 have the red and green spread throughout. #1 seems to have a distint leakage. Visually, I think #2 is more of a specific diamond style and unless you are the wearer - I would hesitate regardless of performance. So, I'd favor #3 of these three. But, wait until you hear from others...

Another option is to see if DBL can send you a video of this one (and any other larger ones they have). The photos suggest a very nice stone and I pretty sure they will shoot you a video and ASET.

Are you certain your girl wants a radiant over all other shapes? Princess cuts are also brilliant but more square. Both Emerald cuts and Asschers have similar shapes but are step-cuts. If you/she are open to other shapes, it may open us some options...
