Hello All!

I usually hang out over in LIW but I''d like some advice from the experts

My BF purchased my engagement ring last month and he just picked it up from the jeweler last weekend (!!!) I''m still waiting on the proposal, but I just received the EGL Report in the mail yesterday. I''ve been trying to read up a bit on Asschers and I was wondering how mine looks on paper. From what I understand, they generally look smaller than RB''s? I was comparing it to my FSIL 1.4 Pear and I can definitely tell that mine is smaller. Maybe her''s just faces up bigger (looks more like 1.5 IMO).

Before I list the specs, let me add that I am IN LOVE with this diamond so regardless of how it looks on paper, it is the most beautiful diamond I have ever seen in real life! I used to be a die-hard cushion girl til I saw this baby. It''s as clear as a piece of glass and sparkles like crazy!

So here ya go:

Shape and Cut: Square Emerald
Weight: 1.29
Color: E
18.gif

Measurements: 6.27 - 6.19 x 3.87 mm
Total Depth: 62.5%
Table Width: 58%
Crown Height: 13%
Pavilion Depth: 47%
Girdle: Thin, Polished
Polish/Sym: VG/VG
Culet: None
Flour: None

Maybe somebody can explain what the numbers mean? Thanks!

I''ll try to post a pic

strm should be along in a while and he can give you his input.

numbers look good
58% table and 13% crown is excellent.
Thin girdle can be an issue in some settings.
What kind of setting is it going in?
Which egl is it?

Thanks for the response!

It''s set in four prong white gold. They''re double-prongs (not sure if that matters). What kind of setting is best for a thin girdle?

And I''m not sure what you mean by "which egl". The report says "Diamond Certificate Report issued by EGL International" but it doesn''t say which office it was graded in...is that what you''re referring to?

Oh, and here''s a picture JFF

girdle shouldn't be much of an issue.
Keep it insured.

egl international is known for soft grading.
It would not likely come back from GIA as a E color.
This is why egl stones trade for less than gia graded stones.

Can you post a picture looking strait down into the asschers table?

I wish I had a better picture, but since we were taking them in the store I don''t really have any close-ups of the stone. I''ll definitely post them as soon as I''m engaged!

Thanks for your help!
