Dear All,
Recently I got a refund on a solitaire.
Upon purchase I was told that there are no restocking fees and all I need to pay is return shipping plus insurance.
However when I received my refund back there is a short of US$500.
The seller told it was due to:
- shipping - because it is international shipping - while in their listing they provide "free international shipping" - so that free service become chargeable if we do refund? is it normal? (anyway, this I don't mind because they did send the ring - I just want to be careful next time) The return shipping plus insurance I paid is $100 - so they should pay about the same amount when shipping it back to me.
- bank charges - while I pay to transfer them I bear all charges. I do notice though that they got charges while transferring the refund back to me. 2 x $45. (apparently they need to do it two times ... no cash.... anyway, I am not really mind this either even though they should just transfer in one time)
- cost to make my ring - it is a free ring included with the diamond purchase and they said it is not refundable even though I return the ring with the diamond. so cost of making a simple six prong ring is about $310? I just want to know the charge to make a solitaire, because I noticed some 18k gold solitaire for as low as $370. Yup, mine was that simple - its the free give anyway what can you expect?
I know a reputable seller will not charge me the above upon refund (except for bank charges maybe).
And some seller does charge the above but they mentioned it in the listing.
Yeah I know they got me. Whatever... it is a difficult refund.. you can pretty much say I am lucky I still got it (mentally exhausted)
I just want to know how much is their actual cost ...... so that I don't fell so bad (or stupid) maybe? You see if that is their real cost so I don't mind because I return the ring anyway (even though different from their promised and well... their invoice - they actually write in invoice "21 day return/ exchange policy"....... *sigh*)
Oh, and if someone know if the seller normally got charged from their supplier? supposed the seller return the diamond back to the supplier when the customer return the ring? They made me feel really really bad about this. I wish they mentioned it upon purchased so it wont mentally burdened me that they now stuck with my ring.
