Hi,
I ordered a Tacori setting (2616RD) for a 1.7 ct center stone (I love my fiance
) and when I received the setting the prongs looked like they were too small and it was quite a bit smaller than the diameter of the center stone. It came in a bag that said 2616RD65 which the 65 implies a 6.5 mm diameter for a 1.0 ct center stone. I raised the issue to my jeweler and he checked and said it is fine and went ahead and mounted the stone. When I got it back it looked like the center stone was forced into the head and the prongs are bent and deformed. I have been trying to get a refund but the jeweler insists there is nothing wrong with it because he says "it fits!".
Does any one have any high resolution photos of Tacori settings so I can print it out and convince the jeweler that it was not mounted correctly? Is any here qualified to mount Tacori settings that can tell me if it is normal for the prongs to be smaller than the diameter of the center stone? I have always thought the prongs were to be slightly bigger and they bend the top bit to grab the center stone, Any help would be really appreciate it!
