i was wondeing if i could get an opinion on a stone i may buy tomorrow.
The specs are as follows :
IGI 1.80 H color
Cut excellent
I deal cut round brilliant
Polish and symmetry both vg
Measurements 7.9-7.93- 4.78
Flores: None
Cutlet - none
Table 57 % and
Depth 60.39
Girdle : Thin to medium

The price is 10,350
I was wondering : Is this a good stone ?
Good price ?
What do you think of the IGI certification ?

Hi, Jules.

There's not really enough information to tell about cut quality. Do you have crown and pavilion height depths or angles? And you left out the clarity.

If that''s all the info a vendor gave me about a stone I would not buy it. You need to know the angles of the crown, pavillion, etc. to know if it will be a good one.

It seems to be priced right, maybe 1000 more than what Internet vendors are charging for a GIA /I/ color, SI2, with VG finish.

If the stone is symmetric. If there are huge variances in the pavilion, such as half of them being 41.5 and the other half being 40.5, giving you the average of 41, it would be a terrible stone.

Thanks for the replies. Should I ask the diamond place about the pavillions specifically? I have the IGI certification- for whatever that is worth.

You'd need a Sarin.

Or get and learn how to use an Ideal Scope.

Or you could get it checked out by an independant appraiser to see if there are any problems and for their opinion on color, clarity, and performance.
