Hi all,

Newbie here and extremely excited to be shopping for an engagement ring! I've been researching them like mad as I do with most things so of course I've ended up here at pricescope.

I'm hoping to get the residential experts to give this diamond a look-over. Unfortunately I don't have any idealscope images, however I have seen the diamond and it looks great to my untrained eye, but I still feel fairly clueless about what I was looking at...let's say it didn't appear yellow at all to me and I didn't notice anything bad about it.

Here are the details which I hope I have read correctly from the GIA cert:

Carat: 1.01
Color: I
Clarity: SI2
Cut: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Excellent
Fl: None
Depth: 59.9
Table: 61
Crown: 33
Pavilion: 41
Measurements: 6.48-6.52 x 3.89
HCA: 1.7
Price: $7500 AUD
GIA Link: http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=1179798845&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&c=Page&cid=1355954554547

Additional info:
Looking at getting it set into an engagement ring, possibly the tacori 2620 or a similar custom replica. I've been quoted varying prices between 2450-5000 for the custom, tacori's are not sold here in Australia so that might be around 4000 after tax (all AUD). To be honest I'm not entirely confident that the tacori 'bloom' type halo can be replicated all that easily, but I guess I won't know about that until I see their designs.

I've looked at other diamonds online at Whiteflash, Good Old Gold and Brian Gavin, but as I'm in Australia I believe there's a 10% GST if I got it from one of these sites so I've had to take that into consideration when looking at their prices - the diamond I've listed is here in Australia so that's the total price quoted.

Basically just hoping to get the best value for the money - I don't need the stone to be perfect but I wouldn't want it to be noticeably imperfect. Big and sparkly are probably the main goals here, and the setting is important too.

Thank you so much for any opinions and help!

Those measurements are generally not going to be considered the most desirable here, although it does get a good HCA score. The table is really large and we usually recommend 54-58. I will say that I'd be a little wary about the additional twining wisps in an SI2 affecting the brilliance of the stone, but you are at the mercy of the jeweler to tell you the truth about that.

That said, if you have compared it to other GIA Ex stones side by side in various lighting (essential if you are not experienced with diamonds), then I guess you know which you believe is prettiest!

Appreciate your comments - I only saw the diamond all by itself with no comparisons.
Back to my search then!
