HELP PLEASE! Ideas for a braided/twisted E-Ring

I'm shopping around for a certain style E-ring for my girlfriend. I was totally in the dark about which style she wanted. Then out the blue she said her & a friend were looking at rings online. She sent me a pic of a certain one she liked (See attached.) She then said she would never want me to get that specific ring because she wanted it to be a surprise, and my own choice. (which I think is a good idea!!)

Well........I need your ideas and help searching for braided or twisted style E-rings please!! :D

I'm trying to keep a budget of around $5K, but I'm sure I can bend a little if needed!

My originally choice was the Tacori 2578 (attached), but I was told in another thread that the longevity of the ring might suffer because of the gaps in the band.

Do these Tacori Rings have a lifetime warranty though?

I believe that Tacori does have a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, but as you said if the damage is because of wear or accident you wouldn't be covered. Tacori is a wonderful line and I really don't imagine that she would have any problems with the setting.

Well, if you want to have to send her ring back to Tacori for weeks at a time every time a little stone or two is lost, yeah, it would have a warranty. The other Tacori ring 2565 is MUCH better because it doesn't have the crescents on the sides. These are known to have problems. (And I know I have already said this on the other thread, but I thought I would say it here since you reposted the ring. :)) )

As long as she is careful with her ring I wouldn't worry about the gaps in the Tacori. It is a style that I would probably baby a bit, i.e no working out, gardening, or anything where the ring can get knocked around. I do believe Tacori has some type of warranty but it's also important to make sure you have good insurance in the ring...

The ring she sent you a picture of looks to be a Michael b..

Very true! I do like the Tacori 2565. Do they warranty if the ring gets bent?

The Brian Gavin ring would be a nice choice! I would just have the two bottom sections with no diamonds.

BUT I love the Verragio even more! It has a nice wedding band, too!
 
Both are gorgeous, and look to be what she has in mind. Both are quality pieces too. BG is very popular here and does great work :))

I have a 2mm band with .02 melee, I don't really babymy ring, but I don't work, sleep, cook, clean etc in it either. I've had it for a year and haven't had any problems. I think you should really consider her lifestyle before you make a decision. It she is really outdoorsy and will want to wear her ring at all times, this my not be a design compatible for her, but if she works in an office or in an environment that her rings won't risk getting banged up, then I think any of these choices will work.

I think you are making great selections based on her example though.
 
In looking back at all of these, I think the Verragio is the best choice considering her example to you. For someone who likes antique styles, the Tacori 2565 would be good. But the Verragio is a combination of traditional and contemporary and is just a beautiful design. I think she would be thrilled with that set!!!

Quick question.......Is Brian Gavin only online, or do local jewelers sell his designs?
 
Is there any way you can show her your final choice before you buy something? I'm not really a fan of the scroll work on the underside of the Verrigio, which I think shows not all of us have the same taste and since this is something she is going to be wearing for a long time she really should have a final say, if both you and she are open to that.
 
Brian Gavin ghastly his own company in TX. You can only purchase directly through him. They are very friendly and respond quickly to emails and even have a live chat feature...

I'd love to show her my final options & let her pick!!
...but she would feel like it will ruin the surprise. And she wants me to pick it on my own. She honestly would love anything...but I'm so picky! I just want everything to be perfect for her.

I might check with Brian Gavin. But I'd like somewhere local, so it's easier to service, polish, clean, etc..but I'm open to anything!
 
Many of us buy from out of state vendors and just find a nice mom and pop local jeweler to clean and polish after the fact. What if you moved? Then the local you buy from may not be local anymore. Of course, if you do have a wonderful local jeweler there is nothing wring from purchasing from them either.
 
Is 5K your budget for the entire ring, or for the setting only? Designers like Tacori and Veraggio can be pricey, so it would help to know if the 5K includes the diamond center stone or not.
 
just wanted to add that I bought my center stone locally and had BGD custom make a setting.

He has already bought a 1.7 G VS1! So budget is for the setting!
 
$5k would likely be my max budget for the setting. The band would be separate, and hopefully only cost a couple grand. I did purchase my round stone already....1.714ct VS1 G - hearts and Arrows Diamond!

I'm considering local or out of state on the setting. I just know if something is local, i can get an idea of how it looks in person, before they make a setting. But out of state means save money on tax!
 
Well, even if a local jeweler carries the brand, it doesn't mean they will have the specific ring you are considering. Most of them will carry a selection of settings from several designers, but not the whole line of any of them. But these are nice rings you are looking at, so I wouldn't necessarily worry about not seeing them. I will say that it is easier not to have to send your diamond off somewhere, though.
 
So for instance, If i did get a custom ring by Brian Gavin.....I'd have to send it to them periodically to check the stones right?

But local jewelers could polish/clean (for a charge?)

Any mom and pop jewelry can check the stones and do a clean and polish. My mom and pop store does it for free. Then you would only send to BGD if there was a problem.
 
Just wanted to comment that I had a Tacori engagement ring with the crescent side design (full eternity) for over 8 years and it's held up great with no stones falling out. The only problem that I had was the ring was just slightly "off round" due to wearing it while doing my daily cycling classes (holding onto the bars way too tightly) but Tacori fixed it for free (when I got the ring back, it looked absolutely brand new with new polished metal, etc)

Edited to add: oh yeah, some of the fine milgrain also wore down over the years, since I wore the platinum ring next to a white gold wedding band. Tacori fixed that at the same time they did the "rounding". But I think the milgrain wearing down may be an issue with milgrain in general, not because it's a Tacori....

Well I spoke with BGD. I think I may go custom (but similar to the link I posted earlier today.). They can meet my budget, and the setting will mean more if it's custom and one of a kind. Plus it seems like they have a pretty good reputation! And the policy's and service seem up to par!
