Hi guys!

First time posting!
So my boyfriend and I went to look at engagement rings and I fell in love with the tiffany novo. But the $50,000 price tag was a bit much!
I have been doing some research and I believe I want to go with GOG. I have seen pictures of the avc and I thought that might be what I want. But then I read some people saying, although they are beautiful, they do not sparkle like a modern cushion. And then there are the brellia diamonds! It's just becoming a bit overwhelming. It is such a big purchase I want to get the right thing. I saw a ring on here that I thought was beautiful. It had the vatche fifth avenue setting and a modern cushion. I have watched the youtube videos comparing but I wanted to hear from some real life experience. What kind of cushion would I get max sparkle from? Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

There are many different flavours of cushions, from the Hearts and Arrows to glittering crushed ice to chunky cushion and more in-between. The comment that "AVC does not sparkle like a modern cushion" is true because it is a different cushion flavour. The AVC will have larger flashes with a medium scintillation speed, often times showing pastel coloured facets while the "typical" modern cushion will have smaller flashes with a quicker scintillation speed. It is all about personal preference as to which type of cushion flavour you love best.

Have you looked at GOG's youtube videos? That would be a great place to get a look at the differences between the styles of cushions.

I have several diamonds, including modern rb, an AVC, and an AVR. The round sparkles in a manner similar to a modern cushion - faster on/ off sparkles. The AVR round has larger facets, even though it is a smaller stone than my modern rb, and it has slower on / off flashes and more fire (colored light return). The AVC is a wonderful piece of eye candy - it has much larger facets, so it is a slower scintillation, but the fire is incredible, as is the white light return. I can't say one is "more sparkly" than another; they are all insanely beautiful, they just all have different personlities.

Have a look at their videos - it's worth the time. :)

I fell for the Tiffany novo too after trying it in store...I ended up with an antique cushion cut so AVC may just be your flavor. For me it seemed to be the cushion outline that did it for me (plus I love the chunky facets) since I wanted something a bit different than round but didn't like the sharp angles of a princess.

Thanks for the replies!

I have looked at the videos and they definitely help. It's just so confusing with so many beautiful options! I feel like I change my mind every other day. Maybe I'll just start by contacting gog...
