Hi all,

Trying to pick a matched pair of stones ~4.5mm as replacement sidestones (center is an E VS2). I've narrowed it down to these few (E/F SI1), but am not sure how closely to read the idealscopes to choose - some of them don't look totally even in saturation in the dark regions, but maybe this is because they are smaller?

E color:

F color:

I also don't have a chance to look at an E and F side by side but thing the slightly lower color would be ok for the sidestones, they will be separated from the center by a small halo.

Thanks!!

You are fine matching two ACA's without worrying about the idealscopes. Those will vary with the lighting used each time. I try to match diameter and then table size. The 4 F stones are all fine, but I'd probably pick the two with 55.8 and 55.9 tables (both F VS2). The two E stones are not close enough in diameter for me. I like the diameter numbers to at least overlap. All of the F stones are closer in size than the 2 E's.

Okay, let's look at the diameters of the (E) stones themselves:

4.49-4.52 and 4.57-4.60

I personally like for the measurements to at least overlap, for example:

4.49-4.52 and 4.51-4.55

You may as well get the two stones as identical as possible.

I try to make the table measurement be within 1% of each other, which those are:

54.4 and 55.1

The F pair are:

4.43-4.45 and 4.40-4.42 I think these are close enough but are a tiny bit smaller than the E stones. So it depends on whether you want the measurements to be a full 4.5mm. Tables are exactly the same which is great. You'd need to ask if both stones are eyeclean since they are SI1.
