what are your secret wishes?

Which EGL division certed it? EGL USA, Europe, Israel etc? If you do a search for EGL here you will see that some say their grading is softer than GIA for example and this can depend too on which branch of EGL did the grading.

I can understand wanting the 1.70 H VS2, that part is lovely. Unfortunately, there''s a couple things besides the EGL cert that kind of cancel things out. The table and depth are far from ideal. I ran this through the HCA to give you an idea. This is what it scored.

Factor Grade
Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Excellent
Total Visual Performance 2.7 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right

Ideally you want a score under 2. I think you can do better.

actually, 2.7 isn''t bad if the price really is that low. you could definitely say the price is right!

Yes, the price is good! But IMO the diamond is not so hot...I guess I just feel like there''s so many choices out there, that better can be found.

You''re right. I did not enter the data correctly in the HCA and that''s one of the reason why I was dreaming

My dreams are a nice sparkling brillant: excellent cut

Size diameter > 7.5 mm

Color> H

Clarity eyeclean of course but could consider an Si2 ( I saw very nice ones where I couldn''t see any inclusion)

Budget max 10k$

The" BUT" is that I live in Europe where diamonds sellers are not so keen on talking about diamond cut: "H&A is BS", "all diamonds are well cut", "it''s the color that give the sparkling of a stone", "F Si2 doesn''t exist".... and I heard many other incredible stories in my diamond search.

The diamond Erings of my friends are not sparkling, like a piece of glass and I dream of a nice sparkling diamant.
The big question is: Who to trust? My eyes are not trained enought so that I can trust them

Thanks anyway for your quick answer and continue to bring support to newbies. I''s always great to read you!

Does the budget include the setting?

I do understand what you are saying about diamond cut not being so important in Europe and all the incorrect advice some sellers give. You know better though that the cut is what matters. My advice is to stick around here and learn about cut - read the advanced tutorials and then start shopping. You can always post the contenders here for us to help you sort the wheat from the chaff!

if you want a nice well performing diamond, which it sounds like you do, you are going to have to give a little on your criteria. si2 is a great start. you are right, there are very nice eyeclean si2''s out there. also look at some i/j color stones. if they are well cut, they will face up very white and sparkle like mad.
we can help find you an amazing stone. it will be even easier if you can be flexible with your criteria.

This is a very nice one, but exceeds your limit. There would be a Pricescope discount though. Not sure how much. I''ve purchased from them and they are great to work with.

It''s gonna be hard to find that size with that budget.

Here''s their branded version, but to get that diameter puts you way over. They do have an upgrade policy, so you could get a smaller one now, and get bigger later. Here''s a nice one in your range.

i currently have a 7mm stone and was considering one in the 7.5mm range. i decided there wasn''t enough difference visually to justify the cost.
here''s a pic i took of the two sizes together...

Great comparison pic belle.

No, the 10K$ are for the stone.

The setting is still under discution

It''s soo hard to pick up only one: So many beauties all around here!

Thanks a lot bell for this comparison picture.

I stick to the excellent cut and to the color but for that budget I will certainly have to reduce the diameter

I am very very tempted to buy a diamand in the US online but It''s such an important buy for me (months of hard saving) that I do not want to make a mistake.

And if I am not happy with the stone I choose, what can I do once I already paid the 20% custum duties??

I already proposed my fiancé to fly to NY for a weekend and to pick up a diamant there but he thinks it''s too much hassle for just a stone

I mean, I leave not far so away Antwerpen so I should be able to find a well cut diamant at a faire price without flying to the states... But Where??

You are luky Ladies don''t you know!!

you are welcome for the picture.

paul slegers of www.craftedbyinfinity.com is in antwerp. he doesn''t sell directly to the public but maybe you could contact him for dealers in your area.

Every one is right. This stone will not exihibit much in the light perfromance department.
Besides the fact that an EGL cert is a little easy on the grading.Oops now I''m being easy.
It is more likely an H - I in color and an SI 1 in clarity. That should, considering the price and
the off make of the stone I would
face16.gif
put it out of the question.
