Hi all,
my budget is under 8K for an engagement ring. I have narrowed down my search and put together a few contenders. I havent seen the diamonds as I they are online. I would like to get a diamond that is eye clean that sparkles a lot... but then again, doesn''t everyone?

What are your thoughts on my picks (both are GIA cert)? any thoughts on J coloration should I be looking at a higher/whiter grade, would fluor have any influence

Hi Finally

Both have potential, I would tend to lean toward the second diamond from the info given, do you have any images such as Idealscope for either of these? Some vendors can supply Idealscope images on request so it is worth asking.

J colour can be an excellent choice if you want to get the most bang for the buck, J colour will still be white although not icy white like the colourless diamonds. You might notice a little warmth from the side in some lighting which isn't necessarily an issue. If you are unsure, try to view some J colour in person, try Jareds to view their AGS0 Peerless brand of similar size to see what you think.

What size stone are you looking for and what is your budget for just the stone?

looking for 1.5ct or larger that's going to be set in a platinum pave sidestone (H) setting.

was unable to obtain IS from retailer =(

Dont have much else to add bc I think the other ladies pretty much said everything but I would be cautious about J color bc not everyone likes not having an icy white ering. I would try to find out what she likes and go from there, me personally would not mind it but there are some that mind. If you do not know I would stay with I color and above to be on the safe side.

As far as the setting, what do you have in mind, did one of the vendors have the setting you wanted...just trying to see how much the setting is going to take out of the budget.

The setting on JA is similar to what I was looking at!
Iin terms of the center stone... i was looking at the 7,000-8,000 range.
I just came back from Jared''s and definitely liked they way the G colored stones looked..

I was quoted for a 1.51ct G round, IGI cert good cut/sym, SI1 $9,300 + $1500 for setting. While i liked the setting and diamond, it was above my price range and I could see some twinning wisps in the diamond if i looked closely, I am kinda unsure about the IGI cert as opposed to AGSL or GIA too.

jared''s setting:

i''m soo confused
