A couple of weeks ago I got sick with food poisioning and had to go to the hospital.

I was given a shot in my right "hip" yeah it was my butt...well it burned so bad and every since I have a pain almost like a sunburn feeling from my cheek down the side of my thigh. On the back of my thigh (the fleshy part that kinda bulges out) is numb to sensation. It is so strange.

Any thoughts?

It should go away. I had that happen to me when I had neck surgery. Had injections for pain on my upper thigh... But best to ask your doc!!! Good luck!!

my thought is that you should probably call and ask your doctor.

much more straightforward than asking for medical information on a diamond forum.

good luck.

Hmmm, thought I posted on family, home and health....

You did post this on family, home and health but when it comes to ''medical'' stuff, you should really ask your doctor. I think that''s what Mara was getting at. Even a doctor reading this post would probably have trouble helping you unless they saw you in person.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. I went jogging last night and the numbness has seemed to improved and the pain subsided. If it has not let up by Friday I will go see my doc.

cheers!

Is it red and swollen? Really, ask you doctor. It could be nothing or it could be a staff infection (not too unusual from shots).

Go and see your doctor asap - sounds to me like they could have upset a nerve or something.

I have permanent "allodynia" - feels like sunburn when you just lightly stroke the area or clothes touch it - down the outside of my thigh, and numbness due to a trapped nerve in my spine. I find accupuncture very helpful. There are lots of nerves in the area of your hip - and the injection could have inflamed one.

It should wear off after a bit though.

Pandora-I was thinking the same thing regarding irritating a nerve.

Iwanna--you may want to ask the doctor, for sure. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
