Ok, after lurking for a month or so, and having all these information, I have sinced been very educated from reading many PS posts, anyhow I am looking for a new diamond,, not sure if I want round or princess cut, my setting is slightly custom made that is 8 mm in width 14k yellow gold with 3 princess cut going accross the shank near where the head, on each side, I initially wanted to get a princess cut diamond of at least 1 carat due to my rather large width, but angle it so it will be in a kite position... I understand that this may be "dangerous" position, but it''s beautiful. Anyhow, then I thought, well maybe I should just go for RB? and since I am pretty active outdoors and have a two year old to keep track up, and I don''t want any sharp corners to accidentally hurt my little one.... I''m in love with Princess cut, and might regret if I get a RB however, I love the Fire and brillance of a round, and it "looks" bigger but my issue is finding a wide range of RB and Princess Cut Prices ranging from $3500-$6500 I looked at JamesAllen and WF and the price differs quite a bit. SO my question is What would be really different with James Allen H&A cut vs WF ACA? would I still get an AWESOME DIAMOND from James Allen if I can get my diamond at closer to the $3600 range? which would be awesome! So I guess I have lots of questions... whether Princess Cut? I guess just insure it, right in case I do get a chip, or go for the RB. I plan on going to Jared to try on a few Peerless to get a better idea on Color, however, from what I can remember from visiting in the past, is I would like the G color if I can stay in the $3600 range for 1 carat or close on the RB or 1 carat or more on the princess cut... any help on anything I just talked about would be awesome!! thanks! sorry for being all over the place, since I am in no hurray for a diamond as it really is for my 5 yr anniversary, I don''t mind, taking all the post I can get to have everyone give me their opinion.. THanks again!

sorry meant to say that I found a princess cut 3600 on another site GIA cert... but since I can''t see the diamond and I don''t know if it''s going to be a "firecracker" as someone else may say... but here are the spec... if this looks good, I might just opt to purchasing it?

The most important thing to know is that fancy shapes (princess, asscher, oval, etc) really need to be seen to get any meaningful information. The numbers just don't tell the whole story when it comes to fancy cuts.

One easy way to narrow your search is to consider AGS0 princess cuts. AGS evaluates each stone in arriving at a cut grade (including light performance), so it takes much of the guesswork out for you.

If you'd rather broaden your range beyond AGS0 candidates, it might be best to enlist the help of an independent appraiser who can guide you.

AGS is still the only larger-scale lab offering cut grades on princess cut stones, so you should be aware that the "Cut: Ideal" designation on this stone doesn't reflect an actual grade assignment from GIA. It's likely a vendor designation.

The price you've supplied for that stone ($3,600) would be quite low even for online vendors. Known well-cut princess stones with AGS0 grades in the 1-carat range that are G, VS2 and F, SI1 still run in the $5500-ish range. If this stone is that much below comparable stones in that range, there's likely a reason. An independent appraiser could help you identify what that reason might be.

Thanks Allison, yeah, I was a bit surprise by the price as well, I think I might just opted to go with WF with the info that they give me vs what James Allen has given me... I''ll go searching for my diamond in a bit... although I have found soooo many I think I might like, and I''d like to stay with a G color as I am a bit color sensitive and have noticed difference between an H and G... but maybe that was because the H was not ideal cut...

I bought a round H and A from James Allen and it''s gorgeous. I can''t compare with anyone else though.

Sounds gorgeous! You can post the details if you want for reassurance as I am sure it is a fabulous diamond, and we would love pics when you get it!
