Hi all, this is the asscher we are probably going to get - unfortunately its a photo of a photo (the jeweller took a great photo and printed it for me, from which I took a photo with my iPhone, so not great clarity!
Specs;
5.34 x 5.26 x 3.95
girdle: medium 4% polished
depth: 75%
table: 72%
crown: 16%
pavilion: 55.5%

1.00ct
exceptional white (E) colour
VVS2
polish - excellent
symmetry - excellent

asking price USD$7,000

a scam or a good stone for the money????
All comments appreciated, even if they are warning me away......

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

Unfortunately, we cant judge asschers by the numbers. We need pics and aset images.

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

I am no expert but it seems like it is facing up small. I also prefer the look of a smaller table. Have you seen the stone in person or are you going by the numbers and the photo from the jeweler? Have you seen any asschers in person?

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

Hi - yes seen a few asschers and are aware of their size limitations in comparison to other stones - but just love that 'deep well' look and am not into "bling" so the lack of sparkle doesn't worry me. I just want to make sure `i have a good stone- it is clean to the eye and gorgeous, but technically I think the table is too large and the crown too low. Does this mean it is a bad purchase for the money?

Arrggh - still won't let me post pics - will set up a flikr account and give url...

What I meant was this asscher seems to be the size of a .90 ct asscher. I understand that asschers in general size up smaller that rounds.

You can compare the specs here. Plug in the lab this stone is graded by along with all the specs.

that's great - thanks for your help :)

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

the picture looks reasonable but that table and depth is not what I would spend my money on.
The weight is all in the pavilion which does nothing for you.

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

Is this a certified stone? Is it me or is there a dent in the side? I see it on the left in the first pic and on the left in the second.

Re: help needed with my asscher - have specs but can't post

yes certified HRD (we are dealing with a jeweller in Antwerp). They don't seem to deal much with GIA certs over here, and that is the case with most jewellers we have spoken to....I think it might just be the lighting - we have checked the stone several times and no visible imperfections (or under loupe) have been visible...

any other comments guys? Doesn't seem that postive, yet its not a downright "don't buy". If anyone else could weigh in it would be appreciated...thanks!
