Long time lurker, first time poster here.
My boyfriend and I''ve been shopping online and in stores and have gone though pages and pages of helpful information on this forum. We''re hoping that we can get some guidance from you all.

I''m an engineer and prefer the simple bold designs instead of the populardainty intricate designs. It has made the search for the ''perfect'' ring a little difficult. The closest design we could find that had the look that I wanted was by an in-house designer with Robbins Brothers. The two times that we went there to see the ring in person, we were taken aback by their unprofessional sales people. (more on that below)
I''m hoping some of you have seen a design similar to this one or perhaps know where I can find other simple and unique designs. What I like about it specifically is that the parts holding the center stone are minimal and it has the two tiny diamonds on the side. I''m not a fan of prongs (and highly prone to snagging on things). The diamond that we hope to put at the center would be a square radiant or a princess (instead of the round in the picture).
Also, would it be possible to have this custom made? Do custom designers frown upon duplicating another design? This one from Robbins has a fine "netting" engraved on the inside for no apparent reason other than to gather dirt and excess hand lotion. I would have it made with a completely smooth band. Would it be worth it? The ring as it is from Robbins is $495 for 18K WG.
---- And now for my Robbins Brothers story
The ring I liked was featured on the front of their web page and is usually the generically featured ring on the side panels. We went in to see it in person and the gentleman who offered to help us didn''t know which ring we were talking about and tried to show me other designs I had no interest in. Once he found out we really only wanted to see it in person and wasn''t prepared to buy, he was even more useless.
We decided to give them a second chance and revisited a couple of weeks later. This sales gentleman, upon discovering we really wanted to try the ring, separated my boyfriend and I and took him into a separate room for "guy talk". Turns out this guy talk was 45 minutes of the salesman trying to convince my boyfriend to talk me into financing my own engagement ring.
He even had a story about how his house was bought on his wife''s good credit and he paid the bills so it was actually him buying the house. And something about this day-and-age where women pay for things.
I''d really rather not go back.
