Hi All!

One long time lurker reporting in :)

I am trying to create a new home for my ~0.8ct diamond and discussing with couple of jewelers here in my home country, in Northern Europe. I would love to get a knife-edge styled ring, but I have no idea about the masurements I should go after. Can you ladies with Tiffany (or SC or WF etc.) rigs take your rulers and measure how wide and thick your rings are from different parts of the band?

I am assuming that the correct look would be achieved with 2-2.5mm width. I wonder what would be the height for the knife-edge? How high is it at highest and how low at lowest? How high are your diamonds set measured from the bottom of the band to the top of the diamond (when looking approximately ~1ct diamond)?

Most likely my ring will not be an exact copy of the Tiffany style, but will have a bit different design twist in the setting. But anyway would like to achieve that sleek look for the knife edge part.. and very difficult as there isn''t many places where I could go to measure. Local ring styles here are much more Nordic and plain, settings with prongs and larger diamonds in general are quite seldom seen.

Thanks all

Anyone?

I think that I can answer this question with a "product specific" answer since you''re asking for measurements, but I''m not sure, so PS Admin may edit my response...

Our rendition of the knife edge style solitaire measures about 2.5 - 2.6 mm near the base of the prong configuration (six prong head) and tapers down to about 2.0 mm at the bottom of the ring shank. I don''t recall the height of the head at the moment, but it is proportional to the diameter and depth of the diamond with some space below the diamond as is standard design... Hope that helps.

Thanks Todd! With your information and frantic study of millions of different photos here on the forum, I think I have everything I need :)

Your design is very pretty, btw. Too bad that the customs proceedings make it too dificult to send my diamond in from Europe to be set. Otherwise would be so easy to just use one of the vendor''s already existing designs and buy "off the shelf".

It may help to take web photos of the proportions YOU like and print it to a very large size scaled at size - say 4 times - and then measure the thicknesses, heights etc and make the proportions for your diamond and finger all the right sizes.
