Help needed picking a diamond

I am new to this forum but I really like the educational posts I have read so far. I am wanting to propose in the next 4-6 weeks and just went last night to look at diamonds. The lady was very nice and helpful (she doesn''t work on commission). I guess I''ll give all of you informed people an idea of what I''m looking for and hopefully you can help me find something.

Cut - 0 (brilliant) or perfect I guess. Apparently this is the most important and this is what I was looking at and really liked what I saw.
Size - 1.5 Ct approx
Color - Around G, H, I, maybe a J
Clarity - VVS2 - SI1 or SI2
Price - I want to keep it around $10 k

Is the above even possible or can I get this type of diamond for cheaper.


Last night I looked at:

Cut - 0
Size- 1.5 ct
Color - I to J
Clarity - VS2
Price - It was about $10 k

I don''t really know if this is a good deal or not. The hardest thing for me is to know if I am getting a good deal or not.

Help please !!!!!! Thank you all in advance for any opinions.

Please give us the cut information. You wrote that it is a cut 0, which I presume is an AGS0 but I''d prefer all the details (table, depth, crown and pavilion angles) to be sure. Does the stone come with lab certification? Which lab graded it? Is the colour I or J? It can''t be both.

I - J seems odd...to be reporting a range. Was that how it was presented to you?
