Hi Everyone!

I am looking to have a local jeweller custom make me a halo setting with inspiration from Lemondrops Steven Kirsch reset. I have a 2.70ct Princess cut diamond that will be in the centre.

I am very nervous about the reset because I want it to be perfect therefore I want to have an idea in my head of what proportions the melee diamonds should be. I want the centre stone to pop and it will be prong set.

Can any experts help by advising what size the Melee should be to keep the look I am after, and also what spread will this give the overall ring? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! :saint:

First I recommend reading Charmy's article on how to make a HW inspired halo.

Next I would ask to see SEVERAL examples of the exact bench person's pave to see if you like it. Pave is an art form and not equal across the board. Many people can do pave, but can they do it well and will it last. By seeing examples that should help you find out if the bench has a talen for it or not. I'm assuming SK's is completely out of your budget that is why you are not going with him?

Thank you for that advice, I will go and take a look at as many examples as he has to offer. Maybe I would be making the wrong choice going with a local jeweller as I don't imagine he would have as much experience with this type of design as its not very common here in New Zealand. I would love to have it made by Sk but I don't think it would be very easy from NZ and it is likely to be out of my current budget... but I would rather wait and get it right because I have to be happy with it and the make must be quality or I don't see the point in having it.

Thanks again for your help.

New Zealand?! Well this is an easy one! They do some of the finest pave work anywhere!

When you go with someone like SK or the Robinson's, you don't even need to know the melee size. They just know how to make it right!

Wow Diamondseeker I never knew they exisited!! Thank you, and they are in my town too! I will pay them a visit!!! Have you seen their work before?

 :appl:

Try using the search engine in the top right. You will find many threads with examples of their work. Be sure to check out the Phoenix ring, it's the most beautiful men's ring I've ever seen :wavey:

Edited: I mean the one just above the board that says "Search by Google", not the one right on top (that's not so good).
